NEET SS 2025 Counselling: MCC Allows Round 1 Seat Resignation Without Penalty; Check mcc.nic.in

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), operating under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), has allowed candidates to resign from Round 1 seats without penalty for NEET UG 2025 and for specific INI allotted candidates in NEET SS 2025, as confirmed on 31 July 2026 via its official website, mcc.nic.in. This resignation facility was active from 02 July 2026, 05:00 PM, until 04 July 2026, 06:00 PM. Candidates who resigned from SS-2025 of MCC to participate in INI-SS will not be eligible for further rounds of SS-2025 Counselling conducted by the MCC.

For these NEET SS 2025 INI candidates, the refund of the security deposit will be processed only if the resignation was completed through the online portal with all necessary formalities. This decision, prompted by multiple resignation requests, enables affected candidates to exit their allotted seats under certain conditions without losing their security deposit, while also extending the NEET PG 2025 resignation window.

NEET UG 2025: Round 1 Resignation Details

The MCC also allowed NEET UG 2025 candidates to resign from their Round 1 counselling seats without forfeiture of their security deposit. This resignation window for NEET UG 2025 Round 1 seats was open from 21 August 2025 (11:00 a.m.) to 25 August 2025 (05:00 p.m.), according to targetpublications.org and careerplanb.co.

For NEET UG 2025 candidates who joined and obtained a Seat Confirmation Letter, physical presence at the college is required to ensure an online resignation letter is generated via the MCC portal. Conversely, if a NEET UG 2025 candidate did not obtain a Seat Confirmation Letter, their seat exit is treated as a Free Exit, making them eligible for further rounds without losing their security deposit.

NEET PG 2025: Extended Resignation Window

The Medical Counselling Committee extended the NEET PG 2025 resignation window for both Round 1 and Round 2. This extended window was available from December 22, 2025 (from 2:00 PM) to December 26, 2025 (till 6:00 PM), as reported by pw.live.

However, for NEET PG 2025, fresh Round 2 allottees or those who were upgraded in Round 2 and later resigned faced forfeiture of their security deposit. The NEET PG 2025 Round 2 seat allotment result had been declared earlier, on December 16, 2025.

How to Resign from Allotted Seats

Candidates wishing to resign from their allotted seats must follow a specific online process to ensure their resignation is valid and their security deposit is refunded, where applicable.

1. Visit the official MCC website (mcc.nic.in) and check the resignation schedule for your counselling.
2. If you have already joined the allotted college, report physically to that institute to submit your resignation.
3. Ensure that the college generates the resignation letter online through the MCC portal.
4. Verify that the online resignation has been completed successfully.
5. Collect your original documents, if applicable.
6. Note that any offline resignation will be treated as “Null & Void” by MCC.

Important Considerations for Resignation

The refund of the security deposit for NEET SS 2025 INI candidates is contingent upon the resignation being processed correctly through the online portal with all formalities completed. Similarly, NEET UG 2025 candidates who did not obtain a Seat Confirmation Letter are eligible for a Free Exit, allowing them to participate in subsequent rounds without deposit loss. However, for NEET PG 2025, fresh Round 2 allottees or those upgraded in Round 2 who resign will have their security deposit forfeited. Candidates resigning from SS-2025 of MCC for participating in INI-SS will not be eligible for further rounds of SS-2025 Counselling by MCC.
