SAMS Odisha PG Admission 2026 Schedule Out; Round 1 Seat Allotment on August 7

The Department of Higher Education (DHE), Odisha, has officially announced the comprehensive counselling schedule for postgraduate (PG) admissions for the 2026–27 academic session. According to the official notification, the Round 1 Provisional Seat Allotment result will be published on August 7, 2026, at 4:00 PM on the SAMS Odisha portal. Round 2 seat allotment result will be declared on August 17, 2026 at 4:00 PM. Classes for the new postgraduate session are scheduled to commence on August 21, 2026. Students are currently updating their scores and locking their choices till August 2, 2026. 

The SAMS Odisha PG admission process facilitates entry into postgraduate programmes offered by participating universities and government, aided, and self-financing colleges across the state. Through the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET), eligible candidates can seek admission to a wide range of M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., MBA, MCA, M.Lib.I.Sc., MSW, and other postgraduate programmes, depending on the course and institution.

How to Check the SAMS Odisha PG Admission 2026 Schedule

Candidates can check the official counselling schedule and subsequent seat allotment updates by following these steps:

  1. Visit the official SAMS Odisha PG portal: https://pg.samsodisha.gov.in
  2. Click on the “PG e-Admission” section.
  3. Select the “Key Dates” or “Notice” link on the homepage.
  4. View the counselling schedule or log in using your registered credentials when the seat allotment is released.
  5. Download and save the schedule or allotment letter for future reference.

Documents Required for SAMS Odisha PG Admission 2026

Candidates selected for reporting must bring both original and self-attested photocopies of the following documents to their allotted institutions:

  • Printout of the SAMS PG Application Form and Provisional Allotment Letter

  • Graduation Marksheet and Degree / Provisional Certificate

  • Class 10th and 12th Board Certificates and Marksheets

  • College Leaving Certificate (CLC) and Conduct Certificate

  • Valid Caste / Reservation Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/SEBC), if applicable

  • Income / PwD / Ex-Servicemen Certificate (if claiming quota benefits)

  • Government-issued Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Passport)

  • Recent passport-size color photographs

What Happens After the Round 1 Seat Allotment?

Once the Round 1 allotment results are announced on August 7, candidates must choose one of the three options via the portal:

  • Freeze: Accept the allocated seat and lock it. The candidate will not participate in subsequent rounds.

  • Slide: Accept the allotted seat provisionally, but opt to upgrade to a higher-preference course within the same institution in future rounds.

  • Float: Accept the seat provisionally, while remaining open to upgrade to a higher preference across any institution in subsequent allotments.

After exercising the option, candidates must pay the required admission fee online between August 7 and August 11, 2026. Following fee confirmation, candidates are required to physically report to their allotted institution for document verification between August 8 and August 11, 2026.
