The counselling process governs admissions into postgraduate dental programs (MDS) under the 50% State Quota seats in government dental colleges, as well as management quota seats in self-financing dental institutions across Tamil Nadu.

Who is Eligible for Tamil Nadu NEET MDS 2026 Counselling?

To participate in the state quota counselling, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Nationality: The applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • Academic Qualifications: Must possess a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from a recognized dental college approved by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
  • Internship: Candidates must have completed their compulsory one-year rotating internship by the cut-off date prescribed for the 2026 session.
  • Entrance Exam: The candidate must have qualified for the NEET MDS 2026 examination by securing marks equal to or above the national qualifying cut-off (308 for General/EWS; 271 for SC/ST/OBC).
  • Registration: A valid registration certificate from the State Dental Council or Dental Council of India is mandatory.
  • Nativity: Specific nativity criteria apply for state quota seats (e.g., candidates who completed BDS in Tamil Nadu or possess a valid Nativity Certificate).

How to Register for Tamil Nadu NEET MDS 2026 Counselling?

Candidates can complete the Tamil Nadu NEET MDS 2026 counselling registration by following these steps:

  1. Visit tnmedicalselection.net, go to the PG Courses section, and click “Post Graduate – Dental (MDS)”.
  2. Click “New Registration” and enter your NEET MDS 2026 roll number, score, mobile number, email ID, and other required details.
  3. Log in with your credentials and complete the application form by filling in your personal, academic, internship, and domicile details.
  4. Upload the required documents, including certificates, photograph, and signature, in the prescribed format.
  5. Pay the registration fee online, verify your details, submit the application, and download the confirmation page.

  • Government Sector: Tamil Nadu Government Dental College & Hospital, Chennai (offers 50% state quota seats).
  • Self-Financing Sector: Dozens of private dental institutes across the state surrender 50% of their total intake to the state pool (Government Quota) and fill the remaining seats through the Management/NRI quota via this identical portal.

Tamil Nadu NEET MDS 2026 Counselling Process After Registration

Once the registration portal closes on July 22, the admission workflow transitions through the following milestones:

  1. Merit List Generation: DMER will process the submissions and publish the Tamil Nadu NEET MDS State Merit List on the website.
  2. Seat Processing & Allotment: Based on the candidate’s state rank, reservation category, and locked college/specialty preferences, the system will execute seat allotment.
  3. Allotment Order Download: Shortlisted candidates must log into the portal to download their provisional seat allotment letter.
  4. Physical Reporting: Candidates must report to their allotted dental college within the timeline given in the allotment letter to submit certificates, undergo verification, and pay admission fees to secure their seat.
