IISER 2026 Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) Breakdown

Candidates who receive a fresh seat offer in Round 2 or choose to confirm an upgraded allocation must pay the non-refundable online Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) on or before August 5, 2026. Failure to pay the SAF within the specified deadline will result in the immediate cancellation of the seat offer and removal from subsequent rounds of counselling.

The category-wise SAF requirements are structured as follows:

  • General / EWS / OBC / OBC-NCL / PwD / KM / Kashmiri Pandits (Non-Migrants): The total fee is ₹35,000. This includes a ₹25,000 Seat Acceptance Fee plus a ₹10,000 non-refundable administrative charge.

  • SC / ST Categories: The total fee is ₹17,500. This includes a ₹12,500 Seat Acceptance Fee plus a ₹5,000 non-refundable administrative charge.

The SAF payment must be completed online via net banking, debit cards, or credit cards through the candidate portal.

Post-Allotment Options: ‘Accept & Freeze’ vs. ‘Accept & Float’

Upon receiving a seat allotment, candidates are required to submit their willingness on the portal. Two primary choices are available:

  • Accept & Freeze: Select this option if you are completely satisfied with your current seat allocation. Choosing ‘Freeze’ locks your admission at the allotted IISER campus and excludes you from further upgrade consideration in subsequent allotment rounds.

  • Accept & Float: Select this option if you wish to accept the currently offered seat as a safety net while remaining eligible for an upgrade to a higher-preference institute in future rounds. Note that ‘Float’ is the default option activated upon successful SAF payment.

If a candidate is upgraded to a higher-preference IISER in a later round, the previously allocated seat is automatically reallocated to another applicant.

Parameters Determining IISER Seat Allotment

The IISER joint admissions committee determines seat allocation strictly through an automated centralized process. Key factors considered include:

  • The candidate’s rank in the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026.

  • The order of institute preferences locked during choice filling.

  • Availability of seats across the seven IISER campuses.

  • The candidate’s reservation category and applicable guidelines.

Candidates awaiting upgrades or fresh allotments are advised to check iiseradmission.in regularly for official updates regarding subsequent counselling rounds.
