FMGE October 2026 registration closes today: apply by 11:55 PM

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will close the online registration window for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) October 2026 session today, September 25, 2026. Eligible foreign medical graduates seeking to appear for the screening test must submit their applications by 11:55 PM through the official NBEMS website, natboard.edu.in.

This October session marks the third FMGE attempt in 2026 and has been introduced by NBEMS to provide an earlier opportunity for eligible candidates to take the screening test. This decision follows protests from students who had appeared for the earlier June examination, aiming to prevent them from waiting for the next regularly scheduled cycle.

Application Process and Key Dates

Candidates are required to complete user registration to generate a User ID or Application ID and a password. The application form necessitates entering personal information, uploading a photograph, scanned signature, thumb impression, and other necessary documents. Applicants must also select their preferred examination city from the available options. Submissions through modes other than the prescribed online process or after the stipulated deadline will not be entertained.

The registration for the FMGE October 2026 exam commenced on September 11, 2026, at 5 PM. Following the closure of the application window, a regular edit window will be available from September 29 to September 30, 2026. A selective edit facility will also be provided from October 3 to October 19, 2026, for permitted corrections, particularly concerning deficient or incorrect images. Information regarding the test city is scheduled to be released on October 20, 2026, with admit cards expected to be issued from October 27, 2026.

Examination Fee and Pattern

The examination fee for the FMGE October 2026 session is ₹5,250. An additional Goods and Services Tax (GST) of ₹945 applies, making the total payable amount ₹6,195. Candidates are advised that only one application form can be submitted for FMGE October 2026; multiple submissions may lead to the cancellation of all applications and forfeiture of fees.

The FMGE is a Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of a single paper with 300 multiple-choice questions. Each question will have four response options, and the examination will be conducted exclusively in English. Candidates will have the option to mark questions for review during the test. The screening test is a mandatory requirement for foreign medical graduates who intend to practice medicine in India.
