Understanding the Program Structure
Amity University provides flexible options tailored to meet the needs of different candidates:

Full-Time PhD: This track requires a minimum duration of 3 years. It is designed for students who can dedicate their entire time to on-campus research, coursework, and departmental interactions.

Part-Time PhD (3.5-Year Program): Specially curated for working professionals, legal practitioners, and corporate experts, this track spans a minimum of 3.5 years. Candidates can pursue their doctoral research alongside their careers but must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of joining.
Eligibility Criteria
Before filling out the form, ensure you meet the necessary academic requirements prescribed by the university and UGC guidelines:
1. The Master’s Degree Route
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) or an equivalent professional degree from a recognized Indian or foreign university. A minimum of 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA is required.
2. The Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Route
Students with an exceptional academic record can apply directly after a 4-year or 8-semester Bachelor’s degree in Law. Candidates must secure at least 75% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA. Note: This route is strictly available for Full-Time PhD applicants only.
3. Relaxation in Marks
A relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%, or 75% to 70%) is provided to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwD, and EWS categories.
Amity PET (PhD Entrance Test) & Selection Process
Admission to the PhD Law program involves a multi-stage selection process to evaluate your research aptitude and subject knowledge.
The Entrance Exam Pattern
The Amity PhD Entrance Test (PET) is a 100-mark test divided into two sections:

Section 1 (General Research Aptitude): 50 questions covering research methodology, English language, logical reasoning, data interpretation, and general knowledge.

Section 2 (Subject Specific): 50 questions focusing on core Law subjects at the Master’s level.
PET Exemption Category
If you have qualified for national-level research exams, you do not need to take the written PET. Candidates with valid scores in UGC-NET (including JRF), CSIR-NET, or similar government fellowships can skip the test and proceed directly to the interview round.
Personal Interview
All PET-qualified and exempted candidates must appear before the Faculty Research Committee (FRC) for a personal interview. You will need to present and discuss a preliminary research proposal or idea (not exceeding 1,000 words).
