  • Part-Time PhD (3.5-Year Program): Specially curated for working professionals, legal practitioners, and corporate experts, this track spans a minimum of 3.5 years. Candidates can pursue their doctoral research alongside their careers but must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of joining.

Before filling out the form, ensure you meet the necessary academic requirements prescribed by the university and UGC guidelines:

1. The Master’s Degree Route

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) or an equivalent professional degree from a recognized Indian or foreign university. A minimum of 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA is required.

2. The Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree Route

Students with an exceptional academic record can apply directly after a 4-year or 8-semester Bachelor’s degree in Law. Candidates must secure at least 75% aggregate marks or an equivalent CGPA. Note: This route is strictly available for Full-Time PhD applicants only.

3. Relaxation in Marks

A relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%, or 75% to 70%) is provided to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwD, and EWS categories.

Amity PET (PhD Entrance Test) & Selection Process

Admission to the PhD Law program involves a multi-stage selection process to evaluate your research aptitude and subject knowledge.

The Entrance Exam Pattern

The Amity PhD Entrance Test (PET) is a 100-mark test divided into two sections:

  • Section 1 (General Research Aptitude): 50 questions covering research methodology, English language, logical reasoning, data interpretation, and general knowledge.

  • Section 2 (Subject Specific): 50 questions focusing on core Law subjects at the Master’s level.

PET Exemption Category

If you have qualified for national-level research exams, you do not need to take the written PET. Candidates with valid scores in UGC-NET (including JRF), CSIR-NET, or similar government fellowships can skip the test and proceed directly to the interview round.

All PET-qualified and exempted candidates must appear before the Faculty Research Committee (FRC) for a personal interview. You will need to present and discuss a preliminary research proposal or idea (not exceeding 1,000 words).
