Assam HSLC half yearly exam 2026-27 begins September 24 for Class 10 students

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), Division-I, will conduct the Half-Yearly Examination for Class 10 students from September 24 to September 30, 2026. This offline, school-level examination is part of the 2026-27 academic session and aims to evaluate students on the syllabus covered in the first half of the year.

The examination is a significant assessment for students, providing an early indication of their academic standing. Schools affiliated with ASSEB will be responsible for providing the detailed routines for the subject-wise question papers.

Examination Schedule and Purpose

The Assam HSLC Half-Yearly Examination 2026-27 is set to take place over seven days, from September 24 to September 30, 2026. This assessment is designed to test the portion of the syllabus completed during the initial half of the academic session, offering students an opportunity to gauge their understanding and preparation.

As per the ASSEB academic calendar, schools are mandated to conduct two unit tests, a half-yearly examination, and an annual or revisionary examination. The Half-Yearly Examination serves as a crucial mid-term evaluation, contributing to the overall academic assessment of Class 10 students.

Marking Scheme and Subject Details

The Assam Board Class 10 (HSLC) examination follows a specific core marking scheme for various subjects. For ‘All MIL’ subjects, the examination comprises 100 theory marks with a passing mark of 30. Subjects like ‘English’, ‘General Science’, ‘General Maths’, and ‘Social Science’ include a practical component.

For ‘English’, ‘General Science’, ‘General Maths’, and ‘Social Science’, the marking scheme is 90 theory marks, 10 practical marks, and 30 passing marks. ‘English (IL)’ has a different structure, with 50 theory marks and a passing mark of 15. These schemes are applicable to the HSLC examination conducted by ASSEB.

Question Paper and Answer Key Availability

Students will be able to download the Assam Class 10 Half Yearly Question Paper 2026-27 in PDF format after the completion of the respective examinations. The question papers will be subject-wise, covering subjects such as MIL (English), Social Science, English (IL), General Science, and General Maths.

On top of the question papers, subject-wise answer keys for the Assam HSLC examination will be made available for download. These resources are intended to assist students in reviewing their performance and understanding the correct responses. Previous years’ question papers for the Assam HSLC Examination, dating back to 2013, are also available.

About ASSEB and Online Services

The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) was established in 2024 through the merger of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). ASSEB is responsible for conducting the HSLC exams for all students in its affiliated schools.

SEBA, as part of the merged entity, continues to offer various online application systems. These include registration for Class IX students, filling up forms for HSLC/AHM Examination, re-checking of answer scripts, seeking photocopies of answer scripts, correction or issue of duplicate documents, and the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET). Transaction fees for these online services vary by payment method, with UPI and Rupay Debit Card transactions incurring no fees.
