Assam NEET UG round 3 counselling registration begins today, apply by October 1

The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, commenced the registration process for Assam NEET UG Round 3 Counselling 2026 today, September 28, 2026. Students aspiring for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in Assam state can register online through the official website, dme.assam.gov.in, until October 1, 2026, at 11:55 PM.

This third round of counselling follows the release of NEET UG 2026 results and the Re-NEET UG 2026 exam, which was conducted on June 21, 2026. The counselling schedule experienced a slight delay due to the Re-NEET UG 2026 exam, for which final results were anticipated by mid-July.

Assam NEET UG Round 3 Counselling Schedule

The registration window for Assam NEET UG round 3 counselling is open for four days, concluding on October 1, 2026. Following registration, the choice filling process will take place from October 2 to October 5, 2026, until 10 PM. Candidates must lock their choices on October 5, 2026, between 5 PM and 11:55 PM. The seat allotment result for this round is scheduled for October 9, 2026.

Only candidates who successfully complete the counselling registration will be eligible to proceed with choice filling and be considered for seat allotment. A counselling fee of Rs. 1,000.00 will be required at the time of admission for those who are selected.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

To participate in the counselling process, applicants must possess a valid Email ID for all communications. Candidates are required to use the same details to fill the application form as submitted for NEET UG-2026. Scanned copies of necessary documents must be uploaded in PDF format only, with each file size not exceeding 250 KB.

Admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BNYS, BPTh, BOTh, and BASLP courses is based on the NEET UG 2026 Score (All India Rank). Candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2026. Assam follows a closed state quota system, requiring a valid Assam domicile for eligibility for the 85% state quota seats in government colleges. Non-domicile candidates are not eligible for state quota seats and can only compete for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats through MCC counselling or 15% management quota in private colleges.

Assam’s Medical Education Landscape and Seat Matrix

Assam offers approximately 1,200+ MBBS seats for the 2026-27 academic session, distributed across more than 12 medical colleges. This includes over 900 government MBBS seats and more than 300 private MBBS seats. Prestigious government institutions such as Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati, Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh, and Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) in Silchar contribute significantly to the state’s medical education capacity.

The admission process is governed by ‘The Medical Colleges And Dental Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into 1st Year MBBS/BDS Courses) Rules, 2017’, which have been amended up to 2026. The state has been consistently expanding its medical education infrastructure, offering affordable fees, quality education, and extensive clinical exposure.

Fee Structure and Expected Cutoffs

The annual tuition fees for government medical colleges in Assam range from approximately ₹12,000 to ₹35,000, making the total course cost for 5.5 years between ₹0.6 Lakh and ₹1.9 Lakh. For private colleges, state quota fees are typically between ₹4 Lakh and ₹5 Lakh annually, while management quota fees range from ₹8 Lakh to ₹12 Lakh per year. NRI quota fees can be between ₹10 Lakh and ₹15 Lakh annually.

Expected cutoffs for government colleges in Assam for the General (UR) category are projected to be between 500 and 580 marks, while for OBC candidates, the range is 370 to 520 marks. SC candidates are expected to fall within 330 to 470 marks, and ST (Plains) candidates between 310 and 440 marks.
