Bihar School Librarian Eligibility Test 2026: Apply by October 31

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), operating under the Education Department, Government of Bihar, is nearing the end of the application window for the Vidyalaya Pustakalayadhyaksh Patrata Pariksha 2026 (School Librarian Eligibility Test). Interested and eligible candidates have until October 31, 2026, to submit their online applications and complete the fee payment process.

The eligibility test, for which applications commenced on October 1, 2026, is a crucial step for individuals aspiring to become school librarians in Bihar. The examination is designed to issue an eligibility certificate, which is a prerequisite for future school librarian appointments in the state, as outlined in Advertisement No. PR 221/2026 published on September 28, 2026.

Application and Examination Schedule

The online application process for the Bihar School Librarian Eligibility Test 2026, which began on October 1, 2026, will conclude on October 31, 2026. This deadline also applies to the payment of the application fee. The Bihar School Examination Board has scheduled the computer-based test (CBT) to be held from November 19 to December 10, 2026.

The application deadline was extended from the initial October 21, 2026, to provide candidates with additional time. The official application route is sletregistration.cbrt.co.in. applications will not be accepted after the specified deadline.

Eligibility Criteria and Age Relaxation

To be eligible for the Librarian Eligibility Test 2026, candidates must be Indian citizens and residents of Bihar. A minimum of 45% marks in graduation is mandatory. However, a 5% relaxation in these minimum prescribed marks will be provided for candidates belonging to SC/ST, EBC/BC, Divyang, Women, and EWS categories. In addition, a Bachelor’s degree in Library Science (B.Lib / B.Lib.I.Sc / B.L.I.Sc) is also a mandatory qualification.

Degrees such as Aalim from Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University, Patna/Bihar State Madrasa Education Board and Shastri from Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University will be treated as equivalent to a Graduation degree for eligibility purposes. The minimum age required is 21 years as on August 1, 2026. An age relaxation of 10 years has been announced for all categories of candidates. The maximum age for General Male candidates is 37 years, for General Female/BC, EBC-Male & Female candidates is 40 years, and for SC/ST-Male & Female candidates is 42 years, all calculated as on August 1, 2026.

Examination Pattern and Application Fees

The Librarian Eligibility Test 2026 will be a computer-based test (CBT) with a total of 150 marks. The paper will consist of multiple-choice questions, with each question carrying one mark. Candidates will be allotted 150 minutes (2.5 hours) to complete the examination. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers. The exam structure is divided into two parts: 50 marks for General Knowledge and 100 marks for Library Science. The result will be based on a normalized score.

The application fee for General, BC, EBC, and Other State (All Category) candidates is ₹960. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the application fee is ₹760. The fee can be paid online using various methods including Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Card / Mobile Wallet. The official notification, Advertisement No. PR 221/2026, does not specify any school librarian post count or pay scale, as the test is solely for an eligibility certificate.
