CBSE 2027: Apply for Class 12 private candidate admission by Oct 14

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the application forms for private candidates appearing in the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations soon. As of 19 September 2026, the application form has not yet been officially made available on the board’s website, cbse.gov.in.

These forms are crucial for a range of candidates, including essential repeaters, students in the supplementary category, those previously declared ‘failed’, individuals aiming to improve their scores, and pass-out candidates wishing to appear for additional subjects. Eligibility for Private Candidates

This includes essential repeaters from the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2026 examination cycles. Candidates who were placed in the supplementary category in 2026 are also eligible to apply. Also, students who were declared ‘failed’ in previous examinations can utilise this opportunity.

Beyond those who have faced academic setbacks, the private candidate option also caters to students who wish to improve their scores in one or more subjects. Additionally, candidates who have already passed their board examinations but now wish to appear in an additional subject are eligible to apply through this channel. For Class 12th, eligibility specifically includes students who failed in 12th class school exams from any CBSE School (Arts/Commerce/Science), students who got a compartment in the 12th CBSE board exams, and those who failed in 12th class board exams in 2026, 2025, 2024, or 2022.

Application Dates and Fees

While the general application forms for CBSE private candidates are expected soon, the admission window for CBSE Private Candidate Class 12th has already commenced. Admissions for Class 12th opened on 15 September 2026, with the last date for application set for 14 October 2026. The theory exams for Class 12th are typically conducted in March each year.

The application fee for the CBSE private candidate form 2027 has not yet been announced by the Board. It is expected that the category-wise fee structure will be released along with the official application notification. Candidates are advised to monitor the official CBSE website for these updates.

Application Process and Required Documents

Once the application forms are released, candidates will need to follow a specific online procedure to submit their applications. The process involves visiting the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in, and working through to the 10th/12th private candidate application portal. From there, candidates must click on the application link, fill in the required credentials, and complete the application form. After filling the form, payment of the application fee will be necessary, followed by submission of the form.

For Class 12th private candidate admission, required documents include the Admit card of the last CBSE board Exam of Class 12th for students who passed or failed Class 12th after passing Class 10. The CBSE conducts Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations annually, typically between February and April. The detailed examination schedule for the 2027 board exams is expected to be released between December 2026 and January 2027.
