59% Women Students in IIM Kozhikode BMS Second Batch
Gender parity remains a strong focus for the second cohort of the BMS programme. Out of the 120 admitted candidates, 71 are women and 49 are men.
This high proportion of female students builds on the achievements of the inaugural batch and reflects broader efforts within top management institutions to increase female representation across both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
56% Students from Commerce Background, 39% from Science Stream
The 2026 BMS batch displays a mix of academic backgrounds from secondary education. While students from the Commerce stream make up the majority, a significant portion comes from Science and other disciplines:
-
Commerce Stream: 56% of the batch comes from a commerce background, providing a foundation in accounting, business studies, and economics.
-
Science Stream: 39% of enrolled students transitioned from science backgrounds, bringing analytical and quantitative perspectives to the cohort.
-
Arts & Other Streams: The remaining 5% includes students from Humanities, Social Sciences, and vocational disciplines.
State-wise and Academic Diversity of IIM Kozhikode BMS Batch
IIM Kozhikode has regularly taken steps toward gender inclusion in business education. In 2013, it became the first IIM to achieve over 50% female enrollment in its flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP).
Under the leadership of Director Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, the institution continues to emphasize that diversity and academic rigor support one another. The 59% female representation in the BMS undergraduate program mirrors similar diversity metrics in the institute’s postgraduate courses.
