IIT Jodhpur Launches New BS in Management and Technology; No JEE Required for Admission

In a major step toward democratizing premier technical education in India, the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IIT Jodhpur) has officially launched a new four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) in Management and Technology. The most groundbreaking aspect of this undergraduate offering is its admission process: candidates can secure a seat without appearing for JEE Main or JEE Advanced.

Designed to equip students for an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven global economy, the interdisciplinary program bridges the growing gap between core technological fluency and strategic business management. Offered in a flexible, blended learning format by IIT Jodhpur’s School of Management and Entrepreneurship in collaboration with Masai, the inaugural academic session commences in August 2026.

Program Overview and Academic Structure

The newly unveiled BS in Management and Technology spans 141 credits divided across 47 courses and 8 semesters. Unlike traditional engineering degrees, the program integrates foundational management concepts with futuristic technology modules.

Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the degree structure incorporates multiple exit options. This flexibility enables learners to earn valid academic certifications or diplomas at various stages of completion, catering to diverse career goals or unforeseen personal changes without losing academic progress.

The curriculum blends recorded video lectures with live weekend interactive sessions, coupled with an optional campus immersion experience at the IIT Jodhpur campus. Upon successful completion of the four-year course, graduates earn full IIT Jodhpur alumni status, securing network access, career services, and attendance at the physical graduation ceremony.

Eligibility Criteria and Stream Inclusivity

IIT Jodhpur has removed traditional academic barriers to broaden access for students across academic backgrounds.

  • Academic Stream: Open to candidates from Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities backgrounds.

  • Minimum Marks: Applicants must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) from a recognized board with at least 60% aggregate marks. A relaxed criterion of 50% aggregate applies to reserved category candidates. Students currently awaiting their Class 12 board results are also eligible to apply provisionally.

  • Age Limit: There is no upper age limit, making the degree accessible to working professionals, gap-year students, and individuals pursuing parallel degrees.

No-JEE Admission Process

Admissions bypass the Joint Entrance Examination completely, relying instead on an independent, multi-stage entrance process administered by IIT Jodhpur:

  1. Online Application: Candidates fill out the application on the official IIT Jodhpur portal and upload relevant documents.

  2. Registration Fee: Applicants pay an entrance test fee of INR 999.

  3. Qualifier Test: Candidates appear for an online qualifier test assessing general aptitude, quantitative skills, and logical reasoning.

  4. Counselling & Offer: Shortlisted students participate in a counselling session, receive a provisional admission offer, and confirm their seat by submitting the initial fee.

Future-Ready Curriculum Built for the AI Era

The course syllabus evolves progressively to build multidisciplinary command:

  • Year 1: Core foundations including Economics, Marketing, Financial Accounting, Statistics, Foundations of Computing, and Entrepreneurship.

  • Year 2: Interdisciplinary tools such as Machine Learning in Business, Consumer Behavior, Design Thinking, and Digital Economy.

  • Year 3: Advanced modules in Generative AI, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Industry 4.0, and Digital Enterprise Management.

  • Year 4: Strategic subjects covering FinTech, Corporate Governance, Supply Chain Management, and Human-AI Collaboration.

Speaking on the launch, Prof. Avinash Kumar Agarwal, Director of IIT Jodhpur, emphasized that the degree responds directly to rapid AI disruptions in entry-level corporate roles. By equipping graduates with both technical agility and managerial foresight, the program ensures young professionals remain resilient in a tech-driven marketplace. Applications for the August 2026 batch remain open on the institute’s official portal.
