Candidates who have been shortlisted are required to report to their respective divisional offices for document verification by October 27, 2026. The recruitment process for GDS positions does not involve a written examination or interview, with selection based solely on marks obtained in Class 10.

Document Verification and Pre-Engagement Formalities

Shortlisted candidates must report to the divisional office with original documents and two sets of self-attested photocopies of all relevant documents for verification. These include marks sheets, identity proof, caste certificate, PwBD certificate, EWS Certificate, transgender certificate, date of birth proof, and a compulsory medical certificate issued by a Government Hospital/Dispensary/Primary Health Centre.

For engagement in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Goa, or Nagaland, a certificate issued by the Competent Authority regarding knowledge of tribal/local dialects or language is also required. Following successful document verification, candidates must complete pre-engagement formalities, including a prescribed basic training of three days and arrangement of accommodation, within 30 days from the date of the ‘offer of provisional engagement’. Failure to complete these formalities or not joining will result in the immediate cancellation of candidature, and the post will be offered to the next eligible applicant.

Application and Selection Process Overview

The application process for the India Post GDS 2026 recruitment cycle concluded on September 21, 2026. The selection is entirely merit-based, derived from marks obtained in Class 10 from a recognised board, and the merit list is system-generated. No official cut-off marks are published; shortlisting varies by circle, division, post, and category.
