Eligibility Criteria and Admission Basis

To be eligible for admission, candidates must be between 17 and 35 years of age as of 31 December 2026. However, there is no upper age limit for qualified ANMs applying for the GNM course. All applicants must also be medically fit, with a certificate from the Health Department, Haryana, as per the admission rules notified by the Haryana Medical Education and Research Department through a gazette notification dated 11 September 2026.

Admission is determined solely by merit based on marks obtained in the Class 12 (10+2) qualifying examination. Science students receive preference in the merit calculation. In the event of a tie in marks, the tie-breaking rules consider higher marks in Biology, followed by higher total marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, then the older candidate, and finally, alphabetical order of name. For GNM admissions, SC, SC (Deprived), BC-A, BC-B, and PwBD candidates receive a 5% relaxation in merit.

Seat Distribution and Quotas

The allocation of seats for ANM, GNM, and MPHW (Male) diploma courses in Haryana varies between government and private institutions for the 2026-27 academic session. Government Nursing / MPHW(M) Schools in Haryana reserve 100% of their seats under the State Quota. This means all admissions to these government institutions are subject to the Haryana State Reservation Policy, which includes categories such as SC, SC-Deprived, BC-A, BC-B, EWS, PwBD, ESM, and FF. The counselling authority for these admissions is Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR), Rohtak.

In contrast, Private Nursing / MPHW(M) Schools in Haryana follow a bifurcated seat distribution model. These institutions allocate 50% of their seats under the State Quota, adhering to the same Haryana State Reservation Policy as government schools. The remaining 50% of seats are designated as Management Quota seats. Candidates from all over India are eligible to apply for Management Quota seats, irrespective of their state domicile. The complete admission rules, including details on seat distribution, were outlined in a gazette notification issued by the Haryana Medical Education and Research Department on 11 September 2026.
