Karnataka NEET PG counselling: Bangalore, Mysore MD cutoffs for previous year released

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is preparing to commence the state-level NEET PG counselling process for MD/MS and PG Diploma seats. As of today, September 25, 2026, information regarding previous year final MD cutoffs for Bangalore and Mysore medical colleges has been released, providing prospective postgraduate medical students with key insights into admission trends.

This year’s counselling follows the declaration of NEET PG 2026 results for more than 2.65 lakh candidates. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is responsible for conducting centralised online seat allotment for postgraduate medical and dental courses across India, while KEA manages the state-level admissions based on NEET PG merit.

Previous Year Md Cutoffs for Top Karnataka Colleges

In the last academic year, Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, Bangalore, recorded the highest closing rank for MD General Medicine, closing at rank 7. Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, Mysore, saw its MD Radiology programme close at rank 145. These institutions remained top choices for MD admissions during NEET PG round 1 admissions in the previous cycle, highlighting their continued competitiveness.

MD Radiodiagnosis is noted as the most chosen course for admissions in medical colleges. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has indicated that Karnataka offers the highest number of postgraduate medical seats in the country, contributing to the total of 86,360 PG medical seats available nationwide. The Centre has also approved approximately 5,000 additional medical seats by the academic year 2028-29.

NEET PG 2026 Results and Upcoming Releases

NEET PG 2026 results have been declared for over 2.65 lakh candidates. The NBEMS is scheduled to release the NEET PG answer keys on or after October 1 for the first time this year. Individual NEET PG scorecards will also be released on or after October 1. The official counselling schedule from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to be released soon on mcc.nic.in.

The admission process for Karnataka NEET PG counselling involves several stages: online registration, document verification, seat matrix publication, option entry, seat allotment, fee payment, and reporting to the allotted college. The MCC handles 50% of Government Medical College Seats under the All India Quota (AIQ), for which no domicile is required. The KEA manages the remaining 50% of Government Medical College Seats under the Karnataka State Quota.

Eligibility and Bond Conditions for Karnataka Admissions

Eligibility for the Karnataka State Quota requires candidates to have completed their MBBS from Karnataka or to have studied for 10 years from Class 1 to Class 12 in Karnataka. Karnataka is also a popular state for NEET PG management quota seats due to its open-state policy and a bunch of private PG colleges, allowing non-domicile students to access these seats.

Mysore Medical College, founded in 1924, became autonomous and was renamed Mysore Medical College & Research Institute in January 2007. Admission to its MBBS course is based on NEET scores, with an annual government fee of ₹64,350 and NRI fees of ₹2,509,350. Postgraduate medical bonds at Mysore Medical College include a 3-year service bond with a penalty of ₹50,00,000. In addition, a seat leaving penalty of ₹10 Lakhs plus stipend received, the entire course fee, and a 3-year debarment applies. Candidates admitted through the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling are required to sign a 1-year bond, which includes urban service conditions.
