The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell on August 31, 2026, released the first list of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) under the State Quota for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree courses for the academic year 2026-27. This provisional selection list for NEET(UG) 2026-27 admissions is now accessible on the official portal, medical2026.mahacet.org.

This initial round of admissions offers opportunities to 10,509 students who appeared for NEET UG 2026, against a total of 10,646 available seats across both MBBS and BDS courses in Maharashtra. Candidates allotted colleges must confirm their admission by physically reporting to their respective institutions between August 31, 2026, and September 4, 2026, by 5:30 PM.

Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 Round 1: Admission Overview

The first provisional selection list covers 8,065 MBBS admissions against 8,129 available seats, while 2,444 BDS admissions have been secured against 2,517 seats. Despite the significant number of admissions, a total of 64 MBBS seats and 73 BDS seats, specifically reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Orphan categories, remain vacant after this first round of counselling.

The Maharashtra State CET Cell, which conducts the admission process in coordination with authorities like the National Medical Commission (NMC), Dental Council of India (DCI), and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, has outlined strict guidelines for admission confirmation. Students are required to submit original documents, pay the prescribed fees, and complete the Status Retention Form by the stipulated deadline.

Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 Round 1: Cutoff Marks

The highest government-college cutoff for MBBS in the Open Category was recorded at 538 marks, indicating the competitive nature of medical admissions in the state. For government BDS colleges, the Open Category cutoff stood at 493 marks. Private college cutoffs were generally lower across all categories, as detailed in the table below.

Maharashtra NEET UG 2026: Important Dates and Reporting Guidelines

Candidates must adhere strictly to the admission confirmation schedule to secure their allotted seats. The deadline for reporting to the colleges, submitting necessary documents, and fee payment is September 4, 2026. The CET Cell has also provided specific instructions regarding fee payment, particularly for bank holidays.

Payment through cheque is permitted on bank holidays, but it is mandatory for candidates to replace the cheque with a Demand Draft (DD) on the very next working day. Failure to submit the DD by the next working day will lead to the cancellation of the provisional admission, as per the official notification from the Maharashtra State CET Cell.
