The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) today, 24 September 2026, announced the addition of 183 new MBBS and BDS seats to the Round 3 seat matrix for NEET UG Counselling 2026. These additional seats have been approved for medical and dental colleges in Maharashtra, Puducherry, Tripura, Uttarakhand, and the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
This increase in the seat matrix is attributed to new approvals or increased intake capacities in the respective institutions. Candidates participating in the ongoing Round 3 counselling process will now have access to these additional seats, impacting the overall seat distribution for MBBS, BDS, and BSc Nursing courses.
New MBBS and BDS Seats Across States and Uts
Maharashtra accounts for the largest share of the newly added seats, with a total of 115. This includes 15 MBBS seats at Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Government Medical College, Ahilyanagar, under the All India quota, comprising 4 BC, 1 EW, 7 OP, 2 SC, and 1 ST seat. In addition, Datta Meghe Dental College, Hospital, and Research Centre, Wanadongri, Nagpur, added 100 BDS seats under the deemed university category, self-financed merit seat quota, all falling under the OP category.
Other regions also saw additions: Vinayaka Missions Medical College, Karaikal, Puducherry, added 50 MBBS seats under the deemed university category, self-financed merit seat quota, and OP category. Agartala Government Medical College, Tripura, received 8 new MBBS seats under the All India quota (2 BC, 1 EW, 3 OP, 1 SC, and 1 ST). Late Jagjivan Ram Government Medical College, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, added 7 MBBS seats (2 BC, 1 EW, 2 OP, 1 OP-PH, and 1 SC). NAMO Medical Education & Research Institute, Government Medical College, Silvassa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, added 3 MBBS seats (1 BC, 1 OP, and 1 SC).

NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 3 Overview
The total number of seats available in Round 3 of MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 is 17,239. This figure includes the newly added 183 seats, 6,703 clear vacancy seats remaining after Round 2, and 10,353 virtual vacancy seats. Virtual vacancy seats represent those that may become available if candidates move from already allotted seats during the Round 3 allotment process. The MCC advises candidates to refer to the official PDF for institute-wise and category-wise availability and to not consider every virtual vacancy seat as a confirmed vacancy.
The MCC had previously issued a notice on 05 August 2026, requesting colleges and institutes to verify the correctness of the tentative or provisional vacancy positions for NEET UG Counselling 2026, leading to these updated figures.

Important Dates for Round 3 Counselling
Registration for NEET UG counselling Round 3 commenced on 22 September 2026 and will conclude on 27 September 2026. The choice filling and locking window is open from 23 September 2026 to 28 September 2026. The seat allotment results for Round 3 are scheduled to be released on 30 September 2026.
Candidates can apply for Round 3 by visiting the official MCC website, mcc.nic.in. The process involves clicking on the UG medical counselling 2026 link, registering with NEET UG application details, filling out the form, paying the counselling fee, uploading necessary documents, completing choice filling and locking, and taking a printout for future reference.
