PGIMER B.Sc. Nursing Admission 2026: Round 1 Counselling Underway in Chandigarh; Key Details, Cut-offs, and Admission Rules

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, is holding the first round of physical counselling today, August 18, 2026, for admission to its prestigious 4-Year B.Sc. Nursing program. The offline seat allotment procedure is taking place at the National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE) auditorium within the PGIMER campus.

This stage follows the computer-based entrance examination conducted on July 24, 2026, and the merit list publication on August 10, 2026. Document verification for qualified applicants was completed yesterday, August 17.

Admission Overview and Seat Distribution

The 4-year B.Sc. Nursing course has a total intake capacity of 93 seats and is restricted to female candidates only. To ensure all available slots are filled and account for potential no-shows, PGIMER invited candidates for physical reporting in a 3:1 ratio relative to available seats per category.

Category-Wise Cut-off Percentiles

Shortlisted applicants were called based on meeting strict minimum cut-off percentile thresholds established by the examination authority:

  • General (Unreserved): 98.9880 percentile and above

  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 98.6851 percentile and above

  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 94.9504 percentile and above

  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 87.8700 percentile and above

  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 45th percentile (UR) / 40th percentile (Reserved)

Mandatory Documents Checked at the Venue

During the physical verification process, applicants were required to submit original documents alongside self-attested photocopies. Digital credentials and DigiLocker files are strictly prohibited under institute policies.

  • Original PGIMER entrance test admit card and score card.

  • Class 10 mark sheet/certificate serving as official proof of age.

  • Class 12 (10+2) mark sheet and passing certificate (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English).

  • Valid category or reservation certificate (OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PwBD), if applicable.

  • Printed copy of the submitted online application form.

  • Character Certificate issued by the principal of the institution last attended.

Fee Payment and Joining Formalities

Seat allotment occurs strictly according to merit order. Candidates selected during today’s counselling must pay their fees on the spot to confirm admission. Payments are collected via Demand Draft/Banker’s Cheque made out to the course fee account or via direct online transfer on location.

Following seat allotment and fee submission, candidates must undergo a mandatory medical examination by the PGIMER Medical Board. Admission remains provisional until the candidate is certified medically fit.

What Happens Next?

Once today’s allotment finishes, PGIMER will publish the list of selected candidates along with a waiting list on its official website (pgimer.edu.in). Any unfilled or vacant seats resulting from non-reporting or medical unfitness will be carried forward to a subsequent second round of offline counselling, which will be announced separately.
