The Punjab Scholarship 2026-27 programme is currently accepting applications for various post-matric schemes, with deadlines extending into November. These scholarships, designed to provide financial assistance and educational benefits, are accessible to eligible Scheduled Caste (SC), Other Backward Class (OBC), Economically Backward Class (EBC), and Denotified Tribes (DNT) students, among others, across school, college, and higher education levels.

The programme integrates both centrally and state-sponsored schemes, primarily managed through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in. For the current 2026-27 academic session, a significant change sees the SC post-matric scheme operating on the NSP, a shift from its previous platform, the Dr. Ambedkar Scholarship Portal of Punjab.

Application Deadlines and Key Schemes

While pre-matric scholarship applications for the 2026-27 session concluded on September 25, 2026, several post-matric schemes remain open. The Post Matric Scholarship for SC students, which commenced applications on July 1, 2026, has a submission deadline of November 15, 2026. Following this, defective applications can be corrected until November 30, 2026, with institute-level verification also open until the same date. District/State/Ministry Nodal Officer (DNO/SNO/MNO) verification for this scheme extends until December 15, 2026.

The PM YASASVI Post Matric Scholarship, catering to eligible OBC, EBC, and DNT students, is open for applications until November 20, 2026. The annual family income limit for most schemes, including PM YASASVI, is set at INR 2.5 lakh. However, the Punjab OBC post-matric scheme specifies an income limit of ₹1 lakh per year under state guidelines.

Eligibility and Financial Assistance

The Punjab Scholarship 2026-27 encompasses five primary schemes listed on the NSP, alongside other state-level initiatives. These schemes aim to provide financial assistance for tuition fees, maintenance allowances, and other educational expenses. The scholarship amounts vary based on the scheme and course, ranging from INR 4,000 to INR 20,000 annually for the NSP-listed schemes. For instance, the Punjab Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students offers an annual amount of ₹50,000, while the Punjab Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC/BC Students provides ₹25,000 annually, subject to an income cap of ₹1.5 lakh per year.

Specific schemes also target particular student groups. Punjab students whose parents or guardians are engaged in cleaning and health-hazard occupations may qualify for a centrally sponsored Pre-Matric scholarship. The Attendance Scholarship for SC Girls has an income cap of ₹0.6 lakh per year and offers an annual amount of ₹1,000. Meritorious students can also benefit from schemes like the General Scholarship Scheme, which provides one-time financial support for academic excellence in 5th and 8th class examinations, and the Dr. Hargobind Khurana Scholarship Scheme for school students, offering ₹30,000 annually with no income bar.

Application Process and Requirements

All applications for the listed schemes for the 2026-27 session are to be submitted online through scholarships.gov.in. From the 2024-25 academic year, a One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory on the National Scholarship Portal, which can be generated using an Aadhaar or Aadhaar Enrollment number (EID). The total charges for scholarship-related services at Common Service Centres (CSCs) are fixed at Rs 30.00 per candidate.

Applicants are advised to prepare necessary documents such as Aadhaar Card, Punjab domicile/residence certificate, Caste/community certificate, Income certificate, previous examination marksheets, 10th/12th certificates, current admission details, bank account details, mobile number, and a passport-size photograph. Students with disabilities must first log in to the UDID portal, provide consent to share their UDID details, and then submit their application on the NSP. It is also recommended that students ensure their Aadhaar biometric lock status is “Unlocked” before proceeding with face authentication through the NSP OTR app.
