ECOR GDCE 2026 Eligibility Criteria and Age Limits

The ECoR GDCE 2026 eligibility is limited to regular ECoR employees who meet the prescribed service, age and qualification requirements.

  • Eligible candidates: Regular ECoR employees, including those from the erstwhile Waltair division/SCoR who hold a lien in ECoR.
  • Not eligible: RPF/RPSF employees and those who have resigned or transferred to another railway from ECoR.
  • Age limit: Candidates must be 18 to 42 years as on January 1, 2027.
  • Upper age limit: 42 years for UR, 45 years for OBC-NCL, and 47 years for SC/ST candidates.
  • Age relaxation: No age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates applying for unreserved vacancies.
  • Educational qualification: Candidates must hold the prescribed qualification for the respective post as on the date of the GDCE notification; candidates awaiting final results are not eligible.

ECOR GDCE 2026 Selection Process and Marking Scheme

The ECoR GDCE 2026 selection process comprises a CBT followed by a post-specific aptitude/typing test, document verification and medical examination, wherever applicable.

Computer Based Test (CBT) The CBT is the primary stage for all notified posts.
CBAT Required for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Station Master candidates who qualify the CBT; candidates must score at least 42 marks in each test battery.
Typing Skill Test Required for Junior Clerk-cum-Typist candidates shortlisted after the CBT.
Document Verification (DV) Candidates equal to the number of vacancies are shortlisted for DV based on CBT/CBAT merit and applicable options.
Medical Examination Final appointment is subject to passing the prescribed medical fitness test.
Negative Marking in CBT 1/3 mark allotted to a question is deducted for every incorrect answer.
Negative Marking in CBAT No negative marking.
Minimum qualifying marks in CBT UR: 40%; OBC-NCL: 30%; SC: 30%; ST: 25%. PwBD candidates may receive a 2-mark relaxation where there is a shortage against PwBD vacancies.
CBT/CBAT Shortlisting Candidates for CBAT/Typing Skill Test are shortlisted up to 8 times the number of vacancies.
