MAT December 2026 exam dates out; apply for PBT and CBT by December 21

The All India Management Association (AIMA) announced the examination dates for the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) December 2026 session today, September 28, 2026. The examination will be conducted in two formats: Paper-Based Test (PBT) and Computer-Based Test (CBT).

The MAT is a national-level entrance examination for admission to MBA and allied management programmes offered by participating B-schools across India. This December session marks the final MAT examination for the year 2026, following previous sessions held in February, May, and September.

MAT December 2026 Registration and Application Deadlines

Registration for the MAT December 2026 examination commenced on September 28, 2026. Candidates have the option to apply for either the Paper-Based Test (PBT), the Computer-Based Test (CBT), or both modes. The application window for both modes will close at 11:50 pm on their respective last dates.

Applicants must ensure fee payment for each session they intend to appear for. The registration fee is ₹2300 for a single exam mode and ₹4000 for applying to both exam modes. The last date to apply for the MAT December PBT is December 14, 2026, while the deadline for the MAT December CBT is December 21, 2026.

Examination Dates and Admit Card Release

AIMA will conduct the MAT December 2026 exams approximately one week apart. The Paper-Based Test (PBT) for the December 2026 session is scheduled for December 20, 2026. Next, the Computer-Based Test (CBT) will be held on December 27, 2026.

Admit cards for the PBT will be released on December 17, 2026, three days prior to the examination. For the CBT, admit cards will be available from December 24, 2026. Candidates are advised to download their admit cards from the official AIMA MAT website using their login credentials on or after the specified release dates.

MAT Exam Structure and Eligibility Criteria

The MAT examination has a duration of 120 minutes and comprises 150 questions distributed across five sections. A negative marking scheme is in place, with 0.25 marks deducted for every incorrect answer. MAT scores remain valid for a period of one year from the date of the examination.

To be eligible for the MAT exam, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Final-year undergraduate students are also permitted to apply provisionally. There is no specified age limit for appearing in the MAT examination.
