The Sub-Inspector examination, also known as SSC CPO, is scheduled from November 20 to 28, 2026. This year, the examination has 1,871 vacancies, including posts for Sub-Inspectors in Delhi Police, the Central Armed Police Forces, and CISF. The Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination (CHSL) 2026 Tier-I is proposed to begin on November 30 and continue until December 31, 2026. The CHSL examination has 2,536 tentative vacancies for posts such as Lower Divisional Clerk/Junior Secretariat Assistant and Data Entry Operator. The SSC has clarified that the CHSL vacancy figure is tentative, and the final number, along with the post-wise and category-wise breakup, will be determined later.

SSC CPO Application and Eligibility Details

The application period for the SSC CPO examination concluded on September 30, 2026, having commenced on September 10, 2026. The last date for fee payment was October 1, 2026. A correction window for SSC CPO applications was provided from October 8 to 10, 2026.

For most SSC CPO SI posts, the minimum age is 20 years and the maximum age is 25 years as of August 1, 2026. However, for SI (FIRE) CISF, the age limit is 18 to 30 years. The application fee for General/OBC/EWS candidates was ₹100, while SC/ST/Female/PH candidates were exempt from the fee. Age relaxations are applicable for various categories, including 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, and up to 35-40 years for certain categories of women and departmental candidates.

SSC CPO Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The selection process for SSC CPO includes Paper I (CBE), a Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET), Paper II (CBE), and a detailed medical examination. Paper I consists of objective-type questions for 200 marks, with subjects including General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Each part has a sectional timer of 15 minutes, and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.

Physical standards for male candidates require a height of 170 cm (General) and a chest measurement of 80–85 cm. For female candidates, the general height requirement is 157 cm. The Physical Endurance Test (PET) includes a 100 m race, 1.6 km race (for males), 800 m race (for females), long jump, high jump, and shot put (for males).
