UCEED & CEED 2027: Register by Oct 31; exam Jan 17

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced the registration schedule for UCEED 2027 and CEED 2027, with online applications set to open on October 1, 2026. These examinations are conducted for admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programmes at participating IITs and other result-sharing institutions across India.

Prospective candidates for both the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) and the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) can begin their application process from 1:00 PM on the specified date. The UCEED 2027 examination is scheduled for January 17, 2027.

UCEED and CEED 2027 Registration and Key Dates

The online registration portal for UCEED 2027 and CEED 2027 will become active at 1:00 PM on October 1, 2026. The application window for the standard regular fee will close at 11:59 PM on October 31, 2026. Following this, a late fee window will be available from November 1, 2026, concluding at 5:00 PM on November 6, 2026.

UCEED 2027 Eligibility Criteria and Exam Structure

UCEED 2027 is conducted by IIT Bombay on behalf of the Ministry of Education. The examination mode for UCEED 2027 is a combination of online (CBT) for Part A and offline (Pen & Paper) for Part B. The total marks for the examination are 300, and the duration is 3 hours. The medium of the UCEED 2027 exam is English only, and the exam timing is from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on January 17, 2027.

For age eligibility, General, EWS, and OBC-NCL candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2001. A five-year relaxation is provided for SC, ST, and PwD candidates, who must be born on or after October 1, 1995. Candidates can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times only, in consecutive years. Eligibility is tied to the Class 12 year, requiring candidates to have passed Class XII (or equivalent) in 2026 or be appearing in 2027 for the first time. There is no minimum percentage requirement for appearing in UCEED. The UCEED score is valid for one year only for admissions in the same academic year.

Stream Requirements and CEED 2027 Information

Stream requirements for B.Des admission vary among participating IITs. IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Indore accept candidates from all streams, including Science, Commerce, and Arts. However, IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, and IIITDM Jabalpur require candidates to have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in Class 12.

For the CEED 2027 examination, there is no upper age limit, and candidates are permitted to attempt the test an unlimited number of times. The application fee for UCEED 2027 is approximately ₹4,000 for General, EWS, and OBC-NCL male candidates, while Female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates are expected to pay around ₹2,000.
