WBSSC Group C and D result expected soon for 8,478 non-teaching posts

The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) is yet to declare the results for the 1st State Level Selection Test (SLST) 2025 for Group C and Group D non-teaching staff. The results, which were initially expected between April and May 2026, have seen multiple postponements, with previous revised estimates for July 2026, August 2026, and September 1, 2026, also being missed.

This recruitment drive aims to fill 8,478 non-teaching vacancies in government and government-aided schools across West Bengal. Over 16 lakh candidates appeared for the examinations, leading to a high competition ratio of approximately 189 candidates per post.

Overview of the WBSSC 1st SLST (Non-Teaching) 2025

The recruitment process, initiated with a notification on January 29, 2026, is for Group C (Clerk) and Group D (Support Staff) positions. The Group C examination was conducted on March 1, 2026, followed by the Group D examination on March 8, 2026. The provisional answer key for both exams was released on April 2, 2026.

The delay in result declaration has led to speculation regarding further postponements, as the Commission’s evaluation and merit-list compilation process has taken longer than typical state-level exams due to the large number of candidates. The final merit list for the WBSSC SLST is currently expected around March-April 2027.

Selection Process and Eligibility Criteria

The selection process for Group C posts includes performance in a written examination, academic record, experience, and an interview, which also incorporates a typing or computer proficiency test. For Group D posts, selection is based on written exam performance, experience, and an interview. Candidates for Group C (Clerk) must have a minimum qualification of Class 12 (Higher Secondary), while Group D (Support Staff) requires a minimum of Class 8 pass.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo document verification. The documents needed include Class 10 and Class 12 certificates and mark sheets, a valid photo ID proof, category certificate (if applicable), domicile or residence certificate, recent passport-size photographs, the admit card of the written exam, experience certificate (if applicable), and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for government employees, if applicable. The dates for document verification are yet to be announced by the WBSSC.

Expected Result Timeline and Cut-Off Marks

While the immediate result declaration is pending, the WBSSC has a history of multi-stage result announcements for its SLST exams. Based on the 2025 trend for Class 9-10 and Class 11-12 written exam results, which were declared in November following September exams, the final merit list for the non-teaching posts is projected for March-April 2027. The merit list will be released alongside the result on the official website.

For the written examination, the expected cut-off marks vary by category. For Group C (Clerk) posts, general category candidates might expect cut-offs between 48-52, while for Group D (Support Staff), it could range from 38-42. These are estimates, and the official cut-offs will be released with the results.

To access their results, candidates will be required to log in using their Candidate ID or Registration Number and Date of Birth or Password. The result or merit list will then open as a PDF document on the screen. Candidates can search for their roll number within the PDF, download, and save it for future reference.
