Sanchi University commenced registrations for its Ph.D. Admissions for the Academic Session 2026-27 on October 21, 2026. Prospective candidates have until November 11, 2026, to submit their online application forms. The university announced the admission notification on October 14, 2026, outlining a structured process for admitting eligible candidates into its doctoral programs.

A total of 19 seats are available across various Ph.D. programs, including Buddhist Studies, English, and Indian Philosophy. The admission process is divided into two phases, with a significant portion of seats allocated to Phase I, and a merit-based selection process that considers nationalized test scores and interviews.
Ph.D. Admission Structure and Eligibility
Admissions to the Ph.D. Program for the 2026-27 academic session will be conducted in two distinct phases. Phase I will account for 60% of the total available seats, while Phase II will fill the remaining 40%. Any seats that remain vacant from Phase I will be carried over and filled in Phase II. The eligibility criteria for Ph.D. admission are aligned with UGC Notification No. F.4-1(UGC-NET Review Committee)/2024(NET)/140648, issued on March 27, 2024.
Candidates are categorized into three groups: Category-1 for those with JRF and Assistant Professor qualifications, Category-2 for Assistant Professor and Ph.D. Admission, and Category-3 for Ph.D. only. For candidates in Block B (Category-2 and Category-3), UGC/CSIR NET scores are valid for one year. Specifically, candidates who qualified UGC/CSIR NET in December 2025 and June 2026 are eligible for Phase I, while those who qualified in June 2026 and December 2026 are eligible for Phase II.
Selection Process and Seat Distribution
The merit list for Ph.D. admissions will be calculated based on a weighted system, with 70% weightage given to Nationalized Test scores and 30% weightage to interviews. This calculation method applies to all candidates from Block A (Category-1) and Block B (Category-2 and Category-3). In each phase, seats are initially filled by Block A candidates, and if seats remain vacant, they are then offered to Block B candidates.
The university has declared a total of 19 seats across its listed Ph.D. programs. The distribution of these seats among the various disciplines is as follows:
| Programmes | Seat |
|---|---|
| Buddhist Studies | 05 |
| English | 05 |
| Alternative Education and Holistic Development | 01 |
| Hindi | 01 |
| Indian Philosophy | 03 |

| Total | 19 |
