Aspiring engineers in Tripura have just been granted a significant lifeline. The Higher Education Department, Government of Tripura, has officially extended the registration deadline for the Diploma Engineering Entrance Examination of Tripura (DEEET) 2026.

Originally set to conclude in mid-April, candidates now have until April 30, 2026, to complete their applications and secure a spot in the upcoming entrance test.

This extension comes as a relief for hundreds of students across the state who are looking to secure admission into the first semester of various diploma engineering courses. These programs are offered across several prestigious government and private polytechnic institutes, including the Tripura Institute of Technology (Narsingarh), Women’s Polytechnic (Hapania), and other district-level polytechnics.

Who Can Apply? Eligibility Criteria

Before rushing to the portal, candidates should ensure they meet the basic requirements set by the Central Selection Committee (CSC):

  • Residency: Candidates must be permanent residents of Tripura.

  • Educational Qualification: Applicants must have passed the Madhyamik (Class 10) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board like TBSE or CBSE.

  • Minimum Marks: A minimum of 35% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam is mandatory.

  • Age Limit: Following AICTE guidelines, there is no maximum age limit for appearing in the DEEET 2026.

Step-by-Step Application Process

The application process is entirely online. Candidates are advised to follow these steps carefully, as the authorities have noted that there will be no correction window once the final submission is made.

  1. Registration: Visit the official website at deeet.tripura.gov.in and register using a unique email ID and mobile number (verified via OTP).

  2. Profile Creation: Log in and fill in your personal details, educational qualifications, and address.

  3. Document Upload: Upload a recent passport-sized photograph and a digital signature. BPL candidates must also upload the front page of their ration card to claim fee relaxation.

  4. Fee Payment: Pay the application fee through net banking or debit card.

    • General/SC/ST: ₹350

    • BPL (Male & Female): ₹200

  5. Final Submission: Preview the form for any errors before hitting the final submit button and print the acknowledgment page.

DEEET 2026 Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The entrance exam is expected to take place in May 2026. It will be an offline, OMR-based test held at five centers: Agartala, Udaipur, Belonia, Ambassa, and Dharmanagar.

The question paper will consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) totaling 400 marks. The subjects covered are:

  • Section I: Mathematics (40 questions, 160 marks)

  • Section II: Physical Science (40 questions—20 Physics, 20 Chemistry, 160 marks)

  • Section III: English (20 questions, 80 marks)

Marking Scheme: Candidates should be cautious, as the exam follows a negative marking system. You receive +4 marks for every correct answer, but 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect choice.
