The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) today, October 6, 2026, announced the annual performance and star ratings for the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) 7.0 for the academic year 2024-25. Simultaneously, the council also released the second-round results of the YUKTI Innovation Challenge (YIC) and the AICTE Productization Fellowship (APF) 2025.

These announcements were made by AICTE Chairman Yogesh Singh and Member Secretary Shyama Rath in a post on X, recognising institutions for their efforts in promoting innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among students and faculty members. The initiatives are part of AICTE’s ongoing commitment to creating an environment for innovation across higher education institutions, with the goal of transforming ideas into practical solutions that create value for society.

IIC 7.0 Ratings and Innovation Promotion

The IIC 7.0 ratings for the 2024-25 academic year acknowledge institutions affiliated with AICTE for their contributions to nurturing an environment conducive to innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. AICTE’s Institution Innovation Council initiatives have established innovation councils in over 14,000 higher education institutions to foster this ecosystem.

In December 2020, out of 1110 institutions listed in the IIC star ratings, 125 institutions achieved 5-STAR ratings. The IIC 7.0 Activities Calendar for 2024-25 is available in PDF format, outlining the framework for institutional engagement in innovation-related activities. AICTE congratulated all participating institutions, innovators, faculty members, and students for their dedication to strengthening India’s innovation ecosystem.

YUKTI Innovation Challenge and Productization Fellowship 2025 Results

The second-round results for the YUKTI Innovation Challenge (YIC) and the AICTE Productization Fellowship (APF) 2025 were also announced today. These programs are designed to identify and support promising ideas and innovations, guiding them from their conceptual stage towards practical applications.

The YIC and APF 2025 initiatives are integral to AICTE’s broader strategy to build a stronger culture of innovation. They aim to support innovations that can evolve into meaningful solutions and generate value for society. AICTE has previously introduced a Rs 245-crore doctoral fellowship programme to further boost innovation and entrepreneurship within the technical education sector.

AICTE’s Historical Context of Innovation Initiatives

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has a history of promoting innovation through various programs and partnerships. For instance, an International Startup Exposure Program for India-South Korea, the 5th Global Innovation Festa (GIF) 2019, was held from October 31 to November 4, 2019, in South Korea. Also, the 2nd edition of the Singapore-India Hackathon was co-organized by MHRD, MIC, and AICTE along with NTU-Singapore and NTUitive Pte Ltd at IIT Madras, Chennai, from September 28-30, 2019.

AICTE also partnered with CII in celebrating Industry-Academia collaborations during an ‘Education Summit’ held on November 13-14, 2019. The council has consistently worked to enhance technical education and foster an innovation ecosystem across the country. If you look at AICTE data, Computer Applications has seen significant growth, with 3,959 new colleges and 3.65 lakh seats.
