Bihar Post Matric Scholarship 2026-27: Apply by September 30

The application period for several Bihar Scholarship schemes for the Academic Year 2026-27 is ongoing, with a key deadline approaching for the Bihar Post Matric Scholarship. Students from Backward Class (BC) and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) categories have until September 30, 2026, to submit their applications for the Post Matric Scholarship.

These schemes, collectively known as Bihar Scholarship, are managed by the Government of Bihar’s Education Department and various state welfare departments. They aim to provide financial assistance for higher education, covering fees, offering monthly allowances, or providing cash rewards upon passing examinations. Students are required to link their Aadhaar with their bank accounts to support Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of scholarship funds.

Bihar Post Matric Scholarship Application Details

The Bihar Post Matric Scholarship portal for BC and EBC students is currently open for the 2026-27 academic year. The application process, which commenced on July 15, 2026, requires students to first obtain an One Time Registration (OTR) number from the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

The NSP, which serves as a central platform for over 140 scholarships, began accepting applications for the 2026-27 academic year on June 1, 2026. Students can apply for one merit-based scholarship and one or more welfare-based scholarships through the NSP. Services for NSP applications are available at Common Service Centres (CSCs) for a charge of Rs 30.00 per candidate.

For BC and EBC students, the annual family income limit for the Bihar Post Matric Scholarship is INR 3,00,000. Students in 11th and 12th Class are covered under this scheme. Those preparing for Bihar Board 12th exams who reside in a hostel receive INR 210 per month, while students living at home receive INR 160 per month.

SC and ST students seeking the Bihar Post Matric Scholarship are advised to consult their specific portal for application dates and details. Pre-Matric schemes generally close around August-September. The last date for renewal applications for the PM-USP – Central Sector Scheme Of Scholarship For College And University Students (CSSS) on NSP is October 31, 2026.

Other Bihar Scholarship Schemes and Deadlines

Beyond the Post Matric Scholarship, the Government of Bihar offers several other schemes. Online registration for the 2026 Protsahan and Medhavriti schemes commenced on May 25, 2026, on the Medhasoft portal. These include the 10th pass Protsahan scheme, the Kanya Utthan (+2) scheme, and the Medhavriti scheme.

The Bihar Student Credit Card scheme provides an education loan for higher studies. Students at colleges affiliated with Patna University, Lalit Narayan Mithila University, and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University are among those who can explore these schemes. The Education Department primarily manages most Bihar Scholarship schemes, with some administered by welfare departments.

NSP Scholarship Merit List and Application Process

The Bihar Board NSP Scholarship Merit List 2026 was released on July 17, 2026. This list pertains to the Central Sector Scheme (CSS) Scholarship for Bihar Board 12th passed students pursuing graduation. The merit list is available stream-wise for Science, Commerce, and Arts (Humanities) on the National Scholarship Portal.

To apply for the Bihar Post Matric Scholarship 2026-27, new students must complete One Time Registration (OTR) through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Following OTR, students should log in to the relevant PMS portal (BC/EBC or SC/ST) using their OTR Number and Captcha. The application form requires personal, academic, and bank account details, and necessary documents must be uploaded in PDF/JPG format, with a maximum size of 2 MB. After reviewing all information, applicants should submit the form and save/print the Acknowledgement/Application Number. Regular checking of the application status on the portal is advised.
