Bihar scholarship 2026-27 applications open; apply by September 30 for some schemes

Application Deadlines and Key Portals

The Bihar Post Matric Scholarship portal for Backward Classes (BC) and Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) students is currently open for the 2026-27 academic session. SC and ST students are advised to check their specific portals for their respective Post Matric Scholarship deadlines.

Online registration for the 2026 Protsahan and Medhavriti schemes commenced on May 25, 2026, on the Medhasoft portal, according to the Bihar Scholarship 2026-27 Latest Update. The main portals for application include pmsonline.bihar.gov.in, scstpmsonline.bihar.gov.in, medhasoft.bihar.gov.in, and bcebconline.bihar.gov.in. The online application process for Bihar Post Matric Scholarship 2026-27 officially began on July 15, 2026, as per notifications.

Students are required to link their Aadhaar with their bank accounts for payment, as funds will not be disbursed to unlinked accounts. The payment for PMS and Medhasoft schemes is supported via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

The Bihar Scholarship is a collective term for various education schemes managed by the Government of Bihar. Other notable schemes include the Mukhyamantri Balak/Balika Protsahan Yojana for 10th pass students, Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana (+2) for girls who passed 12th Class, and Mukhyamantri Kanya (Snatak) Protsahan Yojana for girl graduates, all offering cash rewards. The Mukhyamantri Medhavriti Yojana provides cash rewards to SC and ST girls who passed 12th Class in first or second division.

The Bihar Student Credit Card scheme offers an education loan with no interest to students who passed 12th Class, or 10th Class for polytechnic courses. Also, the Mukhyamantri Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana provides cash assistance to candidates who clear the prelims of listed competitive examinations.

Integration with National Scholarship Portal and Application Process

The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) for the 2026-27 academic year opened in April 2026, offering over 140 scholarships. A new rule for AY 2026-27 allows students to avail one merit-based and one or more welfare-based scholarships simultaneously, though not two merit-based scholarships, as per the NSP Scholarship 2026-27 Apply Online update. One-Time Registration (OTR) on the NSP is mandatory for NSP scholarships and is now also required for the Bihar Post Matric Scholarship 2026-27.

To apply online, eligible students should visit the official Bihar Post Matric Scholarship portal, click on ‘New Student Registration’, complete the registration, log in, fill out the application form, upload necessary documents, review the submission, and finally submit the application.
