Common Admission Test (CAT) Schedule and Eligibility
The CAT exam 2024 was conducted on 24 November 2024. The last date to fill out the CAT application form for 2025 was 13 September 2025, with admit cards becoming available from 5 November 2025. MBA admission rounds for the IIMs are typically conducted after the declaration of the CAT exam results.
Eligibility for IIM selection requires candidates to have 50% marks in graduation for the general category and 45% marks for the reserved category. Candidates in their final year of graduation are also eligible. There is no age limit for IIM selection, with only the required marks in graduation being a criterion. IIM Bangalore’s selection process involves shortlisting for WAT and PI, followed by final selection based on a thorough composite score. A valid CAT 2024 score is mandatory for IIM Bangalore 2025 admissions. The final merit list is calculated using CAT percentile (25%), WAT (10%), PI interview (40%), academic record, and work experience. IIM Calcutta’s admission policy for its MBA (PGP) program for the 2026-28 academic session has revised its evaluation process, following a three-stage process: eligibility through CAT Percentile Cut-offs, shortlisting for PI and WAT, and final selection criteria. Final selection parameters for IIM Calcutta 2026-28 include CAT 2025 Score (30%), Personal Interview (PI) (48%), Writing Ability Test (WAT) (08%), Academic Diversity (06%), and Work Experience (08%). IIM Lucknow considers both sectional and overall CAT percentile cut-offs for WAT-PI shortlisting for CAT 2025. Some IIMs have removed the WAT and GD process, and the Personal Interview rounds for IIMs will be conducted offline.
