FMGE Exam Structure and Marking Scheme
The FMGE is administered biannually, in June and December, and is conducted in English. The examination consists of 300 multiple-choice questions, divided into two parts, Part A and Part B. Each part is allotted 2 hours and 30 minutes, bringing the total exam duration to 5 hours. There is no negative marking, and candidates must secure 150 out of 300 marks (50%) to qualify. The syllabus for the FMGE is based on the MBBS curriculum.
The question paper in each part of the FMGE is structured into multiple time-bound sections. Each section contains 50 questions with a strict 50-minute time limit. Candidates are unable to proceed to the next section until the current one is completed, and reviewing or modifying answers after a section’s allotted time has expired is not permitted. Correct answers are awarded +1 mark, while incorrect or unanswered questions receive 0 marks.
