Candidates currently studying in the 3rd year or higher of any undergraduate degree programme, or those who have already completed any government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities, are eligible to apply.

GATE 2027 will be conducted for 30 test papers in total. Candidates are allowed to appear in either one or two test papers from the permitted combinations specified in the official information brochure on the portal.

The application fee varies according to category and whether the form is submitted within the regular or extended deadline:

• Female / SC / ST / PwD Candidates: ₹1,000 during the regular period (₹1,500 during the extended period with late fee).

• All Other Candidates (Including Foreign Nationals): ₹2,000 during the regular period (₹2,500 during the extended period with late fee).
