The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has officially released the exam schedule and launched the GOAPS portal for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. As per the official notification, online registrations for GATE 2027 will commence on August 14, 2026. The GATE 2027 examination will be held across six days in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027. Organised by IIT Madras on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Ministry of Education, the exam serves as a primary benchmark for admissions to master’s and doctoral programmes across premier institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIITs, as well as recruitment in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

Eligibility Criteria & Paper Combinations
Candidates currently studying in the 3rd year or higher of any undergraduate degree programme, or those who have already completed any government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities, are eligible to apply.
GATE 2027 will be conducted for 30 test papers in total. Candidates are allowed to appear in either one or two test papers from the permitted combinations specified in the official information brochure on the portal.

GATE 2027 Registration Fee Details
The application fee varies according to category and whether the form is submitted within the regular or extended deadline:
