GIET University cycle tests rescheduled due to Cyclone Arnab: new dates 2-5 November

Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology University (GIET University) in Gunupur, Odisha, has announced the rescheduling of its Cycle Test-I for first-semester students and Cycle Test-II for higher-semester students. The decision was made due to the impact of Cyclone Arnab, as confirmed by a notice issued by the Office of the Controller of Examinations on October 27, 2026.

The examinations, originally slated to be held from October 28, 2026, to November 2, 2026, will now take place between November 2, 2026, and November 5, 2026. This adjustment affects a significant number of students across various programs at the university, which was established in 1997 by the “Vidya Bharati Educational Trust.”

Reasons for the Rescheduling

The primary reason cited for the postponement of the Cycle Test-I and Cycle Test-II examinations is Cyclone Arnab. The university, located in Gunupur, Dist-Rayagada, Odisha, PIN-765022, has taken this measure to ensure the safety and convenience of its students and staff in light of the cyclonic weather conditions.

The official notice, bearing reference number 1168/GIETU/Exam/2026 and memo number 1169(30)/GIETU/Exam, was disseminated to key university officials including the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Dean Academics, Principal-SoET, and all Heads of Departments. It was also made available on the GIETU Website and Notice Board to inform the student body.

Revised Examination Schedule

The Controller of Examinations, GIET University, has released a detailed revised schedule for the affected examinations. Cycle Test-I is specifically for first-semester students, while Cycle Test-II applies to those in higher semesters. A particular adjustment has been made for MBA students, whose test originally scheduled for October 28, 2026, has been moved to November 5, 2026.

The revised dates for the examinations are as follows:

Previous examination schedules at GIET University include Cycle Test-I for B.B.A. (Batch 2023-2026) V Semester, issued on August 18, 2025, and Cycle Test-II for M.B.A. (Batch 2024-26) II Semester, issued on April 15, 2025. A notice for Re-Cycle Tests for students who had failed or were absent in previous cycle tests was issued on September 20, 2024, requiring a fee of Rs. 300 per subject.
