The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) on October 23, 2026, released provisional answer keys for the multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in the State Open School (SOS) examinations for Classes 8, 10, and 12. These keys are for the September/October 2026 examination session and are available on the official website, http://www.hpbose.org.

Candidates who appeared for these examinations are invited to review the provisional answer keys and submit any objections they may have regarding discrepancies. This process is a standard part of the examination cycle, allowing students to challenge answers before the final results are declared.
Objection Submission Process and Deadline
Candidates identifying discrepancies in the provisional answer keys must submit their objections by October 25, 2026, at 5 pm. Each objection must be accompanied by supporting documentary evidence and clearly state the relevant class and subject. According to Dr Rajesh Sharma, HPBOSE chairman, candidates can check the provisional answer keys and submit objections if they identify any discrepancies.
Submissions can be made via email to hpbosesopapersetting.43@gmail.com. Each email must specify the class and subject and include authenticated facts or supporting evidence. Alternatively, objections can be submitted by post or in person at the board office, addressed to the Section Officer of the Question Paper Setting Branch. Dr Sharma emphasised that objections received after 5 pm on October 25, 2026, will not be entertained, and submissions without authenticated supporting facts will be rejected.
Review and Finalisation of Answer Keys
Following the close of the objection submission window, a committee of subject experts will examine all received objections. Based on the recommendations of this committee, the final answer keys will be prepared. If no objections are received within the stipulated period, the provisional answer keys will be treated as final.
The examination results for the September/October 2026 SOS session will be prepared based on these final answer keys. Candidates who submit objections will not receive individual notifications regarding the outcome of their representations, as stated by Dr Rajesh Sharma. For additional information, candidates can contact HPBOSE on 01892-242134 and are advised to regularly check http://www.hpbose.org for relevant answer keys and examination-related updates.
Previous HPBOSE SOS Examination Activities
The release of these provisional answer keys follows a series of examination-related activities conducted by HPBOSE for SOS students in 2026. The revaluation and re-checking results for Class 10 and 12 SOS examinations for 2026 were announced on August 7, 2026. Prior to this, the HPBOSE 10th and 12th supplementary exams for 2026 commenced on July 3, 2026.
Class 12 supplementary exams were held until July 16, 2026, while Class 10 supplementary exams concluded on July 10, 2026. The HPBOSE 11th supplementary exam was conducted in a single day. These activities underscore HPBOSE’s ongoing commitment to managing the examination process for State Open School students.
