The admission cycle for 2027 follows previous years’ patterns, with a multi-stage selection process designed to evaluate candidates’ aptitude and passion for design. The institution focuses on practical training and the personal and skill development of its students.

Admission Process for B. Design and M. Design Courses

The admission process for the B. Design course at IICD Jaipur primarily involves an entrance test, for which eligibility generally requires successful completion of 10+2. This initial examination assesses a range of capabilities, including general awareness, creativity, colour perception, conceptualisation, material perception, and decision-making skills. For candidates seeking admission to a Master of Design course, a corresponding entrance examination is mandatory.

Following the preliminary entrance exam, successful candidates are deemed eligible to proceed to subsequent interview rounds. During these interviews, applicants are evaluated on several key aspects, including design thinking, creativity, understanding of colour and material concepts, knowledge of the design industry, technicalities of design, overall academic journey, co-curricular activities, and general knowledge. This complete assessment aims to identify candidates with a strong foundation and potential for growth in the design field.

Guidelines for NRI Applicants

For Non-Resident Indian (NRI) students, the assessment process for admission to IICD Jaipur is carried out on the same lines as detailed for domestic students. However, NRI candidates are required to obtain a valid residency permit or a student visa for the specified duration of their chosen course. This ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for international students studying in India.

In instances where an applicant is unable to travel to Jaipur for the interview, IICD provides an alternative arrangement. Candidates can email documents such as a Purpose Statement and samples of their portfolio or relevant work in advance. This flexibility aims to accommodate applicants who may face geographical or logistical constraints.

IICD’s Institutional Background and Past Activities

IICD Jaipur has a history of engaging in educational and community initiatives. The institution was honoured with the Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh-I Award on October 28, 2022. In a community outreach effort, IICD trained 20 rural women in a three-month textile design certificate program at Ramasar Palawala on October 28, 2021.

The institute has also conducted faculty recruitment in the past. Applications were invited for positions of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor in various design disciplines, including Soft Material Design, Hard Material Design, Fired Material Design, Fashion Design, Craft Communication, and Jewellery Design. The last date for these faculty applications was September 15, 2024. Queries regarding these faculty positions could be directed to the Assistant Manager (HR) via email at amhr@iicd.ac.in or phone at +91-7737394981.
