- Registration for JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is anticipated to open in October-November 2026, requiring an online application with a live photo capture.
- Key removals from the syllabus include 'Communication Systems' in Physics, 'States of Matter' and 'Polymers' in Chemistry, and 'Mathematical Induction' in Mathematics.
- The exam pattern for Paper 1, Paper 2A (B.Arch), and Paper 2B (B.Planning) is expected to remain consistent with the 2026 structure.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the syllabus, exam pattern, and tentative schedule for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2027. This national-level entrance examination serves as the gateway for admission to undergraduate engineering programs at NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutions, and as a qualifying examination for JEE Advanced 2027, which leads to admissions in the 23 IITs.
The JEE Main 2027 syllabus covers Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from the NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 curricula, with several topics removed across all three subjects. The official NTA information bulletin and notification for JEE Main 2027 are expected to be released in October-November 2026, which will include the official syllabus PDF.
JEE Main 2027 Syllabus Changes and Structure
The updated syllabus for JEE Main 2027 reflects NTA’s continued effort to align the examination content more closely with NCERT textbooks. Physics now comprises 20 units, including Experimental Skills, but ‘Communication Systems’ has been removed. The Chemistry syllabus also consists of 20 units, divided into 8 units for Physical Chemistry, 4 for Inorganic Chemistry, and 8 for Organic Chemistry. Notable exclusions from Chemistry include ‘States of Matter’, ‘Surface Chemistry’, ‘Hydrogen’, ‘s-Block Elements’, ‘Isolation of Metals’, ‘Environmental Chemistry’, ‘Polymers’, and ‘Chemistry in Everyday Life’.
Mathematics features 14 units, with ‘Mathematical Induction’, ‘Mathematical Reasoning’, and ‘Linear Programming’ no longer part of the curriculum. These adjustments are consistent with NTA’s recent cycles to simplify the syllabus. The 2026 syllabus is considered a reliable guide for preparation until the official 2027 document is released with the information bulletin.
