LMTSM PhD admissions for January 2027 open: apply online for residential and executive tracks

LM Thapar School of Management (LMTSM) opened PhD admissions for the January 2027 session on October 5, 2026, at its Dera Bassi campus near Chandigarh. The program aims to admit scholars and senior professionals for a rigorous doctoral program, building on LMTSM’s AACSB accreditation and research-driven academic culture.

The PhD program is available in both residential and executive tracks, requiring candidates to apply online. The institution, part of the 70-year Thapar legacy, is ranked #46 among top B-Schools in India as per NIRF Ranking 2025, while Thapar University holds the #29 position in the same ranking.

PhD Admission Process and Eligibility

The admission process for the LMTSM PhD program involves several stages, starting with an online application. Following this, candidates undergo screening based on their qualifying exam scores and academic profiles. The subsequent steps include a research proposal discussion and a personal interview, culminating in an admission and fellowship decision.

All candidates, unless specifically exempted, are required to take the LMTSM Ph.D. Entrance Test. For shortlisting, a minimum of 50% in the entrance test and interview is necessary, with a reduced requirement of 45% for SC/ST candidates. Eligibility for the PhD program mandates a postgraduate degree or equivalent qualification, with a minimum CGPA of 6.00 on a 10-point scale or its equivalent.

MBA Program Overview and Scholarships

LMTSM also offers a two-year, full-time MBA program with five specializations, supported by dedicated placement and career services through its Centre for Training and Development (CTD). The MBA program costs approximately Rs 15 lakh. For the 2026 batch, the median package for MBA graduates was Rs 9.50 LPA, while the top-25% average package reached Rs 11.10 LPA.

The institution provides 110 merit scholarships for its MBA program, including 100%, 50%, 30%, and 20% tuition-fee waivers. These scholarships are awarded based on various criteria, including CAT percentile and affiliation with Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET) or Thapar School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (TSLAS).

Key Dates for Thapar MBA 2027 Admissions

Prospective candidates for the Thapar MBA 2027-29 batch should note the important dates for the admission cycle. The early bird window for applications closes on January 10, 2027. The final deadline for online applications is February 6, 2027, with an extended deadline available until February 13, 2027. The evaluation process is scheduled from February 15–26, 2027.

Offline interviews will be conducted at the Dera Bassi campus on February 20–21, 2027, and in New Delhi on February 27, 2027. Online interviews are slated to begin from March 1, 2027, onwards. Candidates are advised to ensure their academic eligibility, confirm accepted entrance test scores, and prepare all necessary documents before submitting their applications. The LMTSM campus spans 26 acres, and the institution is also preparing to host its 2nd International Conference, ICON 2027, from February 25-27, 2027.
