This recruitment drive aims to fill 1,270 Clerk posts through direct recruitment in the District Courts of Punjab.

The detailed employment notice, No. 37C/SSSC/PB/2026, was released on 3 October 2026. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online starting from 7 October 2026, with the application window closing on 4 November 2026.
Eligibility Criteria and Age Limits
To be eligible for the Clerk posts, applicants must possess a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), or an equivalent degree from a recognised university. Also, candidates are required to have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as one of the subjects and demonstrate proficiency in operating computers.
The age limit for applicants is calculated as of 1 January 2026. The minimum age for all categories is 18 years. Unreserved/General candidates have a maximum age limit of 37 years. Age relaxation benefits are available for bonafide residents of Punjab, with Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes/Other Backward Classes of Punjab receiving a 5-year relaxation. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities of Punjab are granted a 10-year age relaxation. Applicants from reserved categories of other states will be considered under the Unreserved/General category.

Selection Process and Pay Scale
The selection process for the Clerk posts involves a Written Examination, a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT), and Document Verification. The Written Examination will be a computer-based test, carrying 100 marks and lasting 2 hours. There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer in the objective portion of this exam.
The Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) is qualifying in nature, meaning its marks will not be included in the final merit list. The CPT includes a Spreadsheet Test, carrying 10 marks and lasting 10 minutes, with a qualifying score of 4 marks. It also requires an English Typing Test with a speed of 30 words per minute. The final merit list will be prepared solely based on the marks obtained in the Written Examination. Selected candidates will receive a pay scale of ₹29,200 (Level 5), in accordance with the Punjab Government’s new pay scales rules for fresh recruitments on or after 17 July 2020.
Application Fees and Online Submission
The application fee varies by category and is non-refundable, comprising online facilitation charges and an examination fee. Candidates from SC/BC/OBC/ESM/EWS of Punjab are required to pay ₹710. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities of Punjab will pay ₹875, while all other categories will incur a fee of ₹1,200.
Eligible candidates must apply online through the official portal, www.sssc.gov.in. The application window opens on 7 October 2026 at 4:00 PM and closes on 4 November 2026 at 4:00 PM.
