Eligibility Criteria and Pay Scale
Candidates applying for the Junior Court Assistant posts must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University in India. Essential requirements also include knowledge of computer operation and a minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute on a computer. The age limit for applicants is between 18 and 30 years as of 1 September 2026. Age relaxation provisions are applicable for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer), Physically Challenged, Ex-servicemen, and dependents of freedom fighters, as per Government of India rules. Departmental candidates of the Registry of the Supreme Court of India have no upper age limit.

Selection Process Details
The selection process for the Junior Court Assistant positions comprises four stages: an Objective Type Test, a Typing Speed Test, a Descriptive Test, and an Interview. The Objective Type Test will consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), covering General English, General Aptitude, General Knowledge, provisions relating to Judiciary in the Constitution of India, Supreme Court Rules, 2013, Supreme Court Officers and Servants (Conditions of Service and Conduct) Rules, 1961, and Computer Knowledge. This test will be 1.5 hours long, with a maximum of 100 marks and a minimum qualifying mark of 50.
The Typing Speed Test will be conducted on a computer in English, requiring a speed of 35 words per minute within 10 minutes, carrying 50 marks with 25 qualifying marks. A maximum of 3% mistakes are permissible. The Descriptive Test, in English, will be 2 hours long, carrying 100 marks with 50 qualifying marks, and will include Comprehension, Precis Writing, and Essay Writing. The final stage, the Interview, will carry 25 marks, with a minimum qualifying mark of 13.
