The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra has officially released the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) schedule for both 3-year and 5-year LLB programmes. This is the most crucial update for law aspirants in the state, as the publication of the merit list dates marks the beginning of active seat allocations across participating law colleges.

If you have cleared the MH CET Law 2026 exam with a non-zero score, it is time to track these dates closely to secure your seat.

What is the Difference Between Alphabetical and Final Merit Lists?

Many candidates confuse these two lists, so it is important to know what happens at each stage:

  1. Alphabetical Merit List: This is a provisional list. It lists all candidates who successfully registered. It highlights if there are any errors in your documents, category marks, or personal data. If you see an error, you must fix it during the grievance window.

  2. Final Merit List: This is the absolute final rank list. No changes can be made after this list is published. The State CET Cell will use these exact ranks to allocate seats in the law colleges.

Next Steps After the Final Merit List

Once the final list goes live, the portal will open the option-filling round where you list your preferred colleges. Ranks will determine allotments across 147 institutes offering 16,240 seats for the 3-year course, alongside top-tier universities for the 5-year course.

When a seat is allotted, you will need to pay a seat acceptance fee of ₹1,000 online and choose whether to Freeze (lock your seat) or Float (try for a better college in the next round) before reporting to your designated college.

Candidates are highly encouraged to keep their official login IDs active and check cetcell.mahacet.org regularly for exact seat allotment updates.
