NALCO recruitment through GATE 2026 notification expected soon

National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) is expected to release a notification soon for the recruitment of Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) through GATE 2026. This announcement follows NALCO’s established practice of recruiting GETs via the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), with previous recruitment drives conducted in 2022 and 2023.

This upcoming recruitment aligns with NALCO’s ongoing expansion initiatives, including a significant brownfield smelter expansion project. The company is also currently undertaking recruitment for Non-Executive Personnel at its Mines & Refineries (M&R) Complex in Damanjodi for 2026.

NALCO’s Expansion and Technology Partnership

NALCO is undertaking a major expansion, marked by a Technology Licensing Agreement signed with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) on 07 September 2026. This agreement, signed in Dubai, is for the deployment of EGA’s UAE-developed DX+ Ultra aluminium smelting technology. The technology will be used for NALCO’s 0.5 million tonnes per annum (TPA) brownfield smelter expansion project located at Anugola, Odisha.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Brijendra Pratap Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NALCO, and Mr Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer, EGA. EGA will provide NALCO with the necessary technology license, know-how, designs, technical information, and technical support for the DX+ Ultra technology. Mr. Brijendra Pratap Singh stated, “with EGA’s DX+ Ultra technology, we are confident that the Anugola smelter expansion project will emerge as one of the most efficient aluminium smelters in India.” He added that the adoption of this advanced technology would support NALCO’s growth and expansion plans, strengthen India’s aluminium ecosystem, contribute to India’s economic growth, and support greater environmental efficiency and the vision of a Viksit Bharat.

Impact of the SMELTER Expansion

The proposed brownfield expansion is designed to add approximately 0.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of aluminium production capacity at Anugola. This expansion is expected to enable NALCO to move towards an overall aluminium production capacity of about 1 million tonnes per annum, strengthening its position as a globally competitive aluminium producer. NALCO, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, was incorporated in 1981 and has integrated operations covering bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting, and power generation.

The company operates a bauxite mine at Damanjodi, an alumina refinery at Damanjodi, an aluminium smelter and captive thermal power plant at Angul, and port facilities at Visakhapatnam for export and import. The Government of India holds a 51.28% equity stake in NALCO, with its registered office and headquarters located in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. NALCO’s main products include Aluminium Metal, Alumina & Hydrate, Rolled Products, and Power.

Previous Recruitment THROUGH GATE and Other Vacancies

NALCO has a history of recruiting Graduate Engineer Trainees through the GATE examination. The company previously recruited GETs through GATE-2023, with applications open from 04 March 2024 to 02 April 2024. Prior to that, GETs were recruited through GATE-2022, with applications accepted from 11 August 2022 to 11 September 2022. The upcoming GATE 2026 recruitment will continue this established method for entry-level engineering positions.
