NEET UG 2026: KEA publishes 459 vacant MBBS management quota seats; pay fees by 19 September

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on 17 September 2026 released the vacant seat list for UG NEET 2026 after the second round of counselling, along with the corresponding fee structure for MBBS seats. This list comprises 459 MBBS seats, all designated as management quota seats, across 23 private colleges in Karnataka. These seats are identified by course codes ending in MQ and are categorised as OTH (general management pool).

The current notification from KEA does not include government seats, minority seats, NRI seats, or dental seats. Candidates who have been allotted seats in Round 2 must complete their fee payment and download the seat confirmation slip by 19 September 2026. The final deadline for reporting to the respective allotted colleges is 5 pm on 21 September 2026.

Vacant MBBS Seats and Fee Structure

A total of 459 MBBS seats are currently vacant across 23 private medical colleges in Karnataka. Shamanur Shivashankarappa Institute of Medical Sciences, Davangere, has the highest number of vacant seats at 42. Other institutions with significant vacancies include M.V.J. Medical College and Research Hospital, Channasandra, Bangalore, with 34 seats, and Farokh Academy of Medical Education Hospital and Research Institute, Mysore, with 33 seats. In contrast, BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences at Kengeri has 2 vacant seats, and Akash Institute at Bangalore has 3.

The full course fees for these MBBS programmes vary considerably among the colleges. The lowest full course fee is ₹27.12 lakh at G R Medical College and Research Centre, Mangalore, while the highest is ₹45 lakh at Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore. The median full course fee among the listed colleges is ₹35.12 lakh, with eleven of the 23 colleges having full course fees between ₹33 lakh and ₹38 lakh. these listed fees do not include charges for hostel, mess, or college deposits, which are to be paid separately.

NEET UG 2026 Counselling Timeline and Context

The NEET UG 2026 examination cycle experienced disruptions this year, with the original May 3 exam cancelled and then re-conducted on June 21. This led to the declaration of results on July 16, approximately six weeks later than in a typical year. So, the counselling timeline, including the KEA’s process for Karnataka, has also run later than usual.

KEA is the conducting body for Karnataka NEET UG Counselling 2026, which typically covers approximately 9,133 MBBS seats and 2,619 BDS seats across roughly 64 medical colleges in the state. Nationally, the National Medical Commission (NMC) added 9,911 new MBBS seats for 2026, bringing the total number of MBBS seats across India to 136,939. Of the approximately 20 lakh candidates who appeared for NEET 2026, 11.21 lakh qualified. The minimum percentile required for the General category is 50th, for SC/ST/OBC (Karnataka) is 40th, and for PwD is 45th.
