NICL AO recruitment 2026: apply for 321 administrative officer posts by 28 October

The National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) has commenced its recruitment drive for Administrative Officers (Generalist & Specialist) for the year 2026. A total of 321 vacant posts have been announced, with the official notification released on October 7, 2026. The online application window opens today, October 8, 2026, and will remain active until October 28, 2026.

This recruitment drive aims to select suitable candidates for various roles based on their qualifications. The selection process involves a multi-stage examination, including Phase I and Phase II examinations, followed by an interview. The application process is entirely online, accessible through the official website, nationalinsurance.nic.co.in.

Application Process and Key Dates for NICL Ao 2026

Prospective candidates are required to complete their online applications by October 28, 2026. The Phase I examination is scheduled for November 17, 2026, with the Phase II examination set for December 22, 2026. Applicants must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before applying.

The application fee for SC/ST/PwBD candidates is Rs. 250/-, including GST, while all other categories are required to pay Rs. 1000/-, including GST. Candidates must be citizens of India and hold a Graduate/Postgraduate degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates).

Vacancy Distribution and Eligibility Criteria

Out of the 321 announced vacancies, 200 posts are for Generalist Administrative Officers, and 121 are for Specialist Administrative Officers. The Specialist posts are distributed across various disciplines, including Finance, Legal, IT, Automobile Engineers, Risk Engineers, Company Secretaries, and Agriculture. There is also one backlog post for IT specialists.

The age limit for applicants is set between 21 and 30 years as on October 1, 2026. Candidates must hold a Graduate/Postgraduate degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks, or 55% for SC/ST/PwBD categories. Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India, with Company Secretaries primarily assigned to the NICL Head Office in Kolkata. An undertaking to serve NICL for a minimum of four years, including probation, is also required.

Examination Pattern and Salary Structure

The selection process for NICL Administrative Officers comprises a Phase I (Preliminary) examination, a Phase II (Main) examination, and an interview. Both Phase I and Phase II examinations will have a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect objective-type answer. The Phase I exam consists of English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude sections. The Phase II exam includes objective tests for Generalist and Specialist AOs, along with a descriptive test.

The basic pay for Administrative Officers is Rs. 82,485/- per month. Gross emoluments are approximately Rs. 1,14,000/- per month for postings in Metropolitan Centres. This recruitment drive offers a higher number of vacancies compared to previous years, with 266 posts in 2025 and 274 posts in 2024.
