OJEE Counselling 2026: ‘RT’ Status on CBSE Mark Sheets Flags Discrepancy, Seat Cancellation Warning

The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) Cell has issued an urgent notification for candidates participating in the ongoing web-based e-counselling process. The exam authority has detected critical document discrepancies involving CBSE Class 12 mark sheets. Candidates whose documents carry an “RT” (Repeat Theory) status in core qualifying subjects are facing immediate disqualification, alongside a strict warning of automatic seat cancellation if they do not act.

The official advisory specifically flags registrations for major undergraduate and integrated courses, including B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Plan, B.CAT, B.Pharm, and Integrated M.Sc. programmes.

What is the OJEE ‘RT’ Status Discrepancy?

During the verification data reconciliation phase, the OJEE Cell noticed that several applicants uploaded CBSE Class 12 mark sheets where the status for one or more mandatory qualifying subjects is marked as “RT”.

In CBSE terminology, RT stands for Repeat Theory. This means the student has not secured the passing cutoff marks in the theory paper of that particular subject and is required to clear the theory component again.

The OJEE Committee has formally stated that any candidate with a pending “RT” status in required subjects fails to meet the minimum eligibility criteria for admission.

The “Verified by Oversight” Loophole

The core issue prompting this urgent warning is an operational oversight. Due to manual errors or technical oversight during the initial online screening, a few student applications carrying the “RT” status were mistakenly marked as “Verified” by verifying officers.

OJEE has clarified that a “Verified” status on the portal does not bypass basic eligibility rules. The cell has ordered these candidates to step down voluntarily.

Official Instruction from OJEE Cell:

If you have an ‘RT’ (Repeat Theory) and your documents have been marked as ‘Verified’ due to oversight or ignorance by any verifying officer, you are strictly required to withdraw from the system immediately.”

Critical Action Required by Affected Candidates

If your CBSE mark sheet contains an “RT” mark in a required subject, you must follow these steps immediately:

  • Voluntary Online Withdrawal: Log into your OJEE counselling portal using your credentials and formally withdraw your candidature from the seat allocation system.

  • Submit a Written Report: If the online portal does not permit a direct withdrawal at this stage, you must submit a formal written request to the OJEE office without any delay.

The Seat Cancellation Warning

Ignoring this notice can result in severe consequences. The OJEE Cell has clearly stated that any incorrect or ineligible profile that bypasses the online round will be caught during the mandatory university-level physical document verification or institutional reporting stage. If an unresolved “RT” status is found at that time, your allotted seat will be automatically cancelled, and you will lose your admission opportunity entirely.

Related OJEE 2026 Updates: PG Deadlines Extended

In a separate parallel notification, the OJEE Cell extended the Round 1 timeline for postgraduate programmes due to student requests.

The extension applies to M.Tech, M.Arch, M.Plan, MBA, MCA, M.Sc. Computer Science, and MBA (Working Professional) courses. Candidates for these post-graduate courses have been granted an extension until 11:59 PM on July 13, 2026, to finish uploading their documents and complete their Part Admission/Seat Acceptance fee payments ($₹10,000$ for General category, $₹5,000$ for reserved categories).

The authority emphasized that the overall counselling calendar for subsequent rounds remains unchanged, and no further extensions will be allowed for PG Round 1. Candidates are advised to keep checking ojee.nic.in and odishajee.com for official schedule sheets and upcoming Round 2 allotment lists.
