The India Space Lab (ISL) has announced the opening of registrations for its Winter Internship & Technical Training Program 2026-27. The program, designed to promote space education and technical skills, will be conducted online in two batches, targeting undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members.

The initiative aims to provide practical skills in emerging technologies relevant to the space sector, with a total of 2,315 seats available across both batches. An additional 948 seats have been reserved specifically for researchers, scholars, and faculty members, indicating an expanded outreach compared to previous cycles.

Program Structure and Key Dates

The Winter Internship & Technical Training Program 2026-27 will span 45 days and cover areas such as Advanced Drone Technology, CanSat & CubeSat (Student Satellite), Rocketry, Artificial Intelligence in Technology, Remote Sensing & GIS, Disaster Management, and Project Work. The program is supported by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Registration for Batch 1 commenced on 1 September 2026 and will conclude on 22 October 2026, with the internship period scheduled from 2 November to 16 December 2026. For Batch 2, registration also began on 1 September 2026 and will remain open until 18 December 2026, with the internship period set for 4 January to 17 February 2027.

Application Process and Fees

The registration fee for the program is ₹950/-, which is non-refundable. Participants will not receive any stipend during the internship. Upon successful completion of the program, an Internship Completion Certificate will be awarded.

Interested candidates must register online through the official ISL website, isl.ac.in/internship. The application process requires filling in personal and academic details using a valid email ID and mobile number. Applicants are also required to upload necessary documents, including a passport-sized photograph and a Student ID/Bonafide certificate. The non-refundable registration fee must be paid online, and the payment receipt should be saved for records. After reviewing the application, candidates should download the acknowledgement slip.

Comparison with Previous Programs

The current 2026-27 program builds upon previous offerings by India Space Lab. The Winter Internship & Technical Training Program 2025-26, for instance, had registrations open from 27 November 2025 to 31 January 2026, with a training period from 2 February to 3 March 2026. That program offered 1,045 seats and included modules such as Advanced Drone Technology, CanSat and CubeSat, Rocketry Training Program, Remote Sensing (GIS) Sessions, Disaster Management Sessions, and Project focused on Technology & Official Works. Selection for the 2025-26 program was based on a first-come, first-served basis.
