RRB Paramedical Recruitment 2026 applications open for 590 posts; apply by October 14

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have initiated the online application process for various paramedical positions across Indian Railways. Interested candidates can apply for the 590 notified vacancies under CEN 05/26 through the regional websites of the RRBs or the official website, rrb.indianrailways.gov.in.

The application window opened on September 15, 2026, following a detailed notification issued by the board on September 12, 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill positions such as Nursing Superintendent, Pharmacist, and Lab Assistant, among others, with a total of 590 posts available.

Application Process and Key Dates

Candidates interested in the RRB Paramedical Recruitment 2026 must complete their online applications by October 14, 2026, at 11:59 pm. The deadline for payment of the application fee is October 16, 2026. A modification window for making corrections to submitted forms will be available from October 17, 2026, to October 26, 2026.

Vacancies and Eligibility

A total of 590 vacancies have been announced across various paramedical categories. The highest number of vacancies is for Nursing Superintendent, with 365 posts, followed by Pharmacist (Entry Grade) with 118 posts. Other positions include Dialysis Technician, Health & Malaria Inspector Gr II, Audiologist & Speech Therapist, Radiographer X-Ray Technician, ECG Technician, Optometrist, and Lab Assistant Gr. II.

The detailed notification outlines specific educational qualifications, age limits, and medical standards for each post. For instance, Nursing Superintendent requires a certificate as a Registered Nurse and Midwife or a B.Sc Nursing degree, with an age limit of 20-40 years as on January 1, 2027. Candidates are strictly warned against submitting multiple applications to the same or different RRBs, as this will lead to disqualification and debarment from future exams.

Application Fees and Refund Policy

The examination fee for general candidates is Rs 500. A sum of Rs 400 will be refunded to these candidates after they appear in the Computer-based Test (CBT). For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, and EBC candidates, the fee is Rs 250. This entire amount of Rs 250 will also be refunded after appearing in the CBT, subject to applicable bank charges. The refund is contingent on the candidate appearing for the CBT.

Selection Process and Examination Pattern

The selection process for the paramedical positions will involve a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification (DV), and a Medical Examination. The CBT will be of 90 minutes duration, comprising 100 objective multiple-choice questions. PwBD candidates availing scribe facility will be allotted 120 minutes. The question papers will be available in both English and Hindi.

There will be negative marking in the CBT, with 1/3 mark deducted for each incorrect answer. The test will cover professional ability, general awareness, general arithmetic, general intelligence and reasoning, and general science. The initial pay scales for selected candidates vary by post, with Nursing Superintendent having an initial pay of Rs 44,900 (Pay Level 7) and Lab Assistant Gr. II at Rs 21,700 (Pay Level 3).
