Candidates who participated in this early online counselling window can view their current status directly on the official admission portal. Missing the deadline will result in elimination of the candidate from subsequent rounds.

Candidates can check their TNEA 2026 Special Reservation Allotment status by following these steps:

1. Visit tneaonline.org, the official TNEA counselling portal.
2. Click on the Special Reservation Login link and enter your application number and password.
3. Open the Tentative Allotment tab to view your allotted college and engineering branch.
4. Select the confirmation option displayed on the screen:
   • Accept and Join: Choose this option to confirm the allotted seat and proceed with admission.
   • Accept and Upward: Choose this option to accept the current seat while participating in the next round for a possible upgrade.
5. Submit your selected option before the specified deadline.

What is the TNEA 7.5% Government School Quota

The 7.5% preferential quota is a dedicated state government reservation plan created to assist students coming from public education backgrounds. It reserves 7.5% of seats across all engineering courses and branches in participating colleges. This quota is handled in a separate, early counselling window before the general rounds begin, ensuring these students receive first access to preferred college streams. This year, a total of 50,373 students registered under this quota

• 7.5% Government Quota: Students must have studied continuously from Class 6 to Class 12 in Tamil Nadu State Government Schools.
• General Special Reservations: This covers specific subsets, including the children or dependents of Ex-Servicemen (150 seats reserved globally), Eminent Sports Persons (500 seats reserved), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (5% horizontal reservation across institutions).

What After the TNEA 2026 Special Reservation Allotment?

Once you receive your tentative seat, you must choose one of the official seat confirmation options. If you fail to confirm by the deadline, your allotted seat is automatically cancelled:

• Accept & Join: Choose this if you are satisfied with the college and branch. You will download your final provisional allotment order and report to the designated college.
• Accept & Upward: Choose this to hold onto your current allotment while waiting to see if a higher-preference choice opens up during upward movement. You will need to report to a TNEA Facilitation Centre (TFC) to submit original papers and pay fees to secure the safety seat.
• Decline: Rejecting the seat allows you to either opt for upward movement options or enter subsequent counselling rounds directly, depending on your choices.
