UPSC Principal final result released for 363 posts on September 29

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on September 29, 2026, released the final result for the recruitment of Principals in the Education Department, Government of NCT of Delhi. The result, available on upsc.gov.in, concludes the recruitment process for 363 Principal vacancies, which was initiated under Advertisement No. 07/2021.

This final declaration comes more than three years after the interview process concluded, with the latest result notice including one candidate qualified based on a Supreme Court order dated July 14, 2026. The selection process involved a Combined Recruitment Test (CRT) and a Personal Interview.

Recruitment Timeline and Process

The recruitment process for the Principal posts commenced with the publication of Advertisement No. 07/2021 on April 24, 2021. The written examination, consisting of 120 MCQs for 300 marks with negative marking, was conducted on July 17, 2022. Then, interviews were held from January 30 to March 2, 2023.

Multiple result notices were issued throughout the process. An initial recommendation list of 334 candidates was released on March 22, 2023. A revised result for two additional candidates followed on September 27, 2023, and a result notice for 21 applicants was published on February 12, 2026. The final result notice, dated September 29, 2026, declared one candidate as qualified, bringing the extensive recruitment process to a close.

The Principal post is classified as General Central Service Group- “A” Gazetted, Non-Ministerial, with a probation period of one year. The headquarters for these posts is the Directorate of Education, GNCT of Delhi, Old Secretariat, Delhi- 110054. Reservation under the OBC Category is provided only to candidates who submit OBC certificates issued by the Government of NCT of Delhi; candidates with OBC certificates from other States/UTs are considered as General/Unreserved candidates.

Qualified candidates can expect Document Verification (DV) as per UPSC norms. Upon successful verification, the candidate will receive an appointment order from the Education Department, Government of NCT of Delhi, and must report to the allotted school or office within the stipulated time.
