UPRTOU July 2026 admission deadline extended: apply by September 30

Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) has extended the admission deadline for its July 2026 session. Aspiring distance learners now have until September 30, 2026, to apply for various undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), diploma, and certificate programs for the academic cycle 2026-27. The official notice regarding this extension was uploaded on September 14, 2026, on the university’s portal.

This extension marks multiple adjustments to the admission timeline for the July 2026 session. Previous deadlines included August 30, 2026, September 14, 2026, and September 15, 2026. The university aims to provide accessible learning opportunities through its open and distance learning mode, offering direct admission for many programs in the July 2026 cycle without an entrance test.

Application Process and Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to UPRTOU’s July 2026 session must complete their applications online through the official portals, uprtou.ac.in or uprtouadm.samarth.edu.in. The application fee for all courses is INR 500, which is non-refundable. After submitting the online form, the application will be verified by the respective study center, following which students are required to pay the tuition fee.

Eligibility for UG programs requires a 10+2 qualification, while PG programs necessitate a bachelor’s degree. Applicants are also required to create their ABC ID and DEB ID before registering. The university advises students to use their own mobile number and email address for all communications.

Program Offerings and Fee Structure

UPRTOU offers many programs, with around 128 courses available at various UG, PG, diploma, and certificate levels. All programs are approved by regulatory bodies including UGC, AICTE, RCI, NCTE, and DEB. For the July 2026-27 session, four new programs have been introduced, including a Certificate Course in Single Subject.

The first-year fee for UG courses ranges from INR 4000 to INR 13000. For instance, the BA admission fee at UPRTOU is INR 4000 per year. The university operates an annual system for diploma and certificate courses, while a semester system is implemented for UG, PG, and diploma courses in management and non-credit awareness programs.

University Background and Rankings

Established in 1999, Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University is accredited with a B+ grade by NAAC. The university has a significant presence across Uttar Pradesh, with more than 1350 study centers. In the NIRF 2025 ranking, UPRTOU was ranked 3rd under the ‘other university’ category, highlighting its standing in the open and distance learning sector.

UPRTOU conducts admissions in two cycles annually, in July and January. The admission period for the January 2026 session was previously extended to February 25, 2026. The university’s consistent extensions for admission deadlines aim to accommodate a broader range of aspiring distance learners.
