Aligarh Muslim University Releases Admission Test and Counselling Schedules for 2026–27 Session
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has officially announced its complete schedule for the 2026–2027 academic year admissions, bringing much-needed clarity to thousands of students planning to join the prestigious institution. According to the latest updates from the Office of the Controller of Examinations, the university has completed its core entrance tests and has now moved into its crucial online counselling phase.
Every year, AMU draws lakhs of applicants from across India and abroad for its undergraduate, postgraduate, and school-level courses. This year’s schedule covers everything from the initial entrance test dates to the step-by-step seat allotment process.
Key Entrance Exam Dates
For the 2026–27 session, the university organized its admission tests across various centres in Aligarh and other selected cities. The entrance examinations were spaced out between April and June to ensure a smooth testing experience:
-
April 12, 2026: Exams were held for B.A. (Hons) in Arts, Social Sciences, and International Studies, as well as B.Sc. (Hons) in Science, Life Sciences, and Agriculture.
-
April 19, 2026: Exams were conducted for B.Com. (Hons), Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.), and the prestigious B.Tech / B.Arch engineering tracks.
-
April 26, 2026: The university tested aspirants for Senior Secondary School (Science, Humanities, and Commerce streams), Diploma in Engineering, and the B.A. LL.B. program.
-
June 7, 2026: Postgraduate and specialized professional courses—such as the M.B.A. (all specializations), B.Ed., and Master of Public Health (MPH)—concluded the physical entrance test phase.

Counselling and Admission Process Underway
With the entrance exam results declared over May and June, the university has transitioned to its online admission counseling. The Counselling-cum-Admission schedule has been issued in multiple rounds.
The counselling process is being handled completely online via the official university portal. For core programs like B.Tech, B.Sc, B.Com, and BBA, the counselling dates are structured in rounds to fill out the seat matrix systematically:
| Counselling Phase | Key Activities Included |
| Round 1 | Online registration, document uploading, and choice filling began in late June. Document verification was completed, leading to the display of the first “Firm List” (admission list). |
| Round 2 | Conducted in mid-July. This round allows registered candidates to edit documents if they were rejected in Round 1, and releases the second allotment list. |
| Round 3 | Scheduled for late July to fill any remaining vacant seats. |
Candidates whose names appear on the university’s “Firm List” must log in to their admission accounts to pay their fees within the specified dates to lock in their seats. Failing to pay the admission fee on time results in the automatic cancellation of the seat offer.
Crucial Documents Required for Verification
To make sure the admission process goes smoothly, AMU officials have advised candidates to keep original scanned copies of several documents ready for upload:
-
Class 10 & 12 Marksheets (or equivalent certificates).
-
Graduation Certificates (only required for PG candidates).
-
Special Category Certificate (if applicable, such as children of AMU alumni, employees, or specific reservation categories).
-
Character Certificate & Transfer/Migration Certificate from the previous institution.
-
A recent passport-size photograph and a scanned copy of the student’s signature.
The university’s verification team reviews each document. If a document is found to be unclear or incorrect, candidates are given a small window to re-submit it on the portal.
Essential Guidelines for Students
The Controller of Examinations has issued a strict advisory asking students to strictly follow the dates listed on the official schedule. Since the counselling schedule moves quickly, missing a deadline for document submission or fee payment means losing the seat to the next person on the merit list.
Students are strongly encouraged to check only the official university website—www.amucontrollerexams.com—for authentic updates and announcements. They should avoid relying on unverified social media rumors regarding changes to admission dates.
